Starling Bank pooped on by a gang of mangy seagulls

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. A gang of mangy seagulls clearly saw Starling Bank coming and have not only swooped down and stolen all their chips but then flew away and pooped on them from a great height as they left, squawking and laughing evilly.
Yes, Starling have launched new branding, but they clearly have been ripped off by yet more "practitioners" of the current tedious and mediocre flatso/poopo (un)design fad that sadly still not every business has seen through yet and recognised as the ugly hastily thrown-together rubbish that it is.
- Very very cheap looking ugly/basic/stark fonts for logotype and text that look like they have been pinched from a poor quality "1000 Free Fonts" CD (that squashed upper half of the "S" is particularly hideous)
- Garish, eye-searing clashing colour palette, as if someone said "make them sort of pastel, but then display them as if on a glitching wonky CRT TV"
- Rubbishy (and, yes, garish) app icons including a bi-directional double-arrow funds transfer icon so you can't even tell whether the transfer is coming in or out at a glance - form over function (or complete lack of any function) much? Total FAIL
I do hope they get that fiver back quickly enough once they realise they've been totally ripped off (sadly it probably cost a lot more than that)…
I wonder if it was the same talentless schoolkids who similarly ripped off Nationwide with the cackling crow of doom?
Oh well, I guess at least no one will think they had just borrowed the Switch logo any more (but at least that was a logo that clearly had had a bit of design thought and flair to it)…

Yeah, it's really ugly and I hate the font, though the app (for me anyway) still has the old logo. I'm sure they paid some agency a fortune to come up with it!4

You have to make a conscious decision to change the logo on the app - I'm sticking with the old one!#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3662

I made the mistake of ‘upgrading’ to the new Starling logo.Poor mix of colours. Money wasted, I think. The original logo looked so much better, in my opinion.Digital Payback

Interesting post heading!
I had a quick look from the link and actually think the rebrand looks quite good!
I admittedly don't currently use Starling for anything, having initially downloaded for a previous decent savings rate!
Looks like they've tried to simplify everything, I always found the old logo got lost amongst all the other Banking apps on my phone! The bold "S" definitely stands out more compared to the old weird curved lines!
I like the use of strong colours with the chunky typeface!
Personnel taste, I guess, but I recall my old design lecturer, consistently reminding us to think "KISS" (Keep It Simple, Stupid")

It seems ok to me, at least they have come up with their own design instead of copying Natwest like Nationwide did.1

I didn’t like the latest Lloyds rebrand but it has grown on me.0
