Tagging in Competitions Time

What would 8 - 10 core test tags to start with be?
As a reminder, we can merge tags later (e.g. Facebook, Instagram could become Social Media), but splitting isn't possible

Could I suggest remove "Phone" which seems like it would be very rarely used (unless I'm missing something) and add:
Raffle Site
Daily Entry (this is different from Mag Daily so it would be good to have both)
Enter Early
There are others in @One-Eye's list which are important but used less frequently, in my opinion, and could hopefully be added later.
Of course other people will have other ideas about what's a priority. Thanks again for doing this, @MSE_Stephen

Thanks @Dan29
So you're proposal would be:
🗳️ Website
🗳️ Email
🗳️ Facebook
🗳️ X / Twitter
🗳️ Instagram
🗳️ App
🗳️ Mag Daily
🗳️ Raffle Site
🗳️ Daily Entry
🗳️ Enter Early
Bringing it up to 10
I'd really like to keep the initial size low just so as not to overwhelm.
I'd also like to get the right order, as they can't be rearranged later.
I think the ability to follow tags comes in the next few days!
So it would be a good time for an early test when tags are getting some attention.Join the MSE Forum

I agree phone is not needed as phone/text/post comps have their own section anyway
I would merge IG/FB/X/TT under a single Social Media tag.
You could miss out Enter Early as these types of comp are now quite rare.
The really common things that should be included are Gleam and Newsletter
For a small initial selection I would go for these 9:
🗳️ Website
🗳️ Email
🗳️ Social Media
🗳️ Gleam / Sweepwidget etc.
🗳️ Newsletter
🗳️ App
🗳️ Mag Daily
🗳️ Raffle Site
🗳️ Daily Entry

Thanks for the suggestions.
For Social Media, I'm leaning towards separating initially since it's easy to merge, but not to split.
I'm very mindful of the fact that in these feedback threads we only get a handful of responses from very interested members, but when it's actually in place the wider Comping community will notice and I'm sure have other suggestions.
The key thing right now is to get the order correct as that's unchangeable, so they should be in a logical order.
🗳️ Website 🗳️ Email 🗳️ Newsletter 🗳️ App 🗳️ Mag Daily 🗳️ Daily Entry 🗳️ Raffle Site 🗳️ Social Media (possibly split up) 🗳️ Gleam
The current format puts tags at the bottom as shown below, (a future upgrade will make them look much nicer). Currently:Join the MSE Forum

For Social Media, I'm leaning towards separating initially since it's easy to merge, but not to split.
Understood, but I suspect that the majority of people fall into two camps - those that don't enter any social media comps and those that enter them irrespective of platform. I think there are fewer who would enter through one platform and not through others.
The key thing now is to get the order correct as that's unchangeable, so they should be in a logical order.
🗳️ Website 🗳️ Email 🗳️ Social Media 🗳️ Newsletter 🗳️ App 🗳️ Mag Daily 🗳️ Raffle Site 🗳️ Daily Entry 🗳️ Gleam
Thinking that some of these tend to be almost mutually exclusive, and that some are less common but important when they are used, the logical order I would go for is:
🗳️ Website 🗳️ Email 🗳️ Social Media 🗳️ Gleam 🗳️ App 🗳️ Raffle Site 🗳️ Newsletter 🗳️ Mag Daily 🗳️ Daily Entry
Here the first five are methods of entry and are almost mutually exclusive - typically only one of them would be selected for a comp (although some comps offer both Social Media and Website entry). "Raffle Site" is also a method of entry but could be selected along with "Website". "Newsletter" is a consequence of entering which would go alongside one of the methods, and the last two are frequency markers.

'Tag Following' is now active!
In a future update later this year when we update the layouts, you'll be able to click on a tag anywhere on the forum and see a 'Follow' tag. For now I've created the page linked below.Currently there are no Comps tags, but I've temporarily shown the 'Ask an Expert' tags so you can see how it works:

Nothing major to add to the discussion, but can I draw attention to the first part of @One-Eye 's post from last September:
Main MethodsA1 - Website (Entry Form) (
DEFAULT - so may not be needed?)After scanning through the first 10 pages of current comps posted, it seems to me that the vast majority would come under the category of 'website or entry form' without a need for any further tagging.
It seems quite onerous to ask for many comps to require the tagging of 'website'.
I would strongly agree with the comment that, as these are the default, no tagging is needed.

@MSE_Stephen Can you please advise if we will still be able to just go through all comps - say for instance in the Standard Online Competitions section - as they are currently laid out? And that Tags are not going to be forced upon us??
Personally I don't follow a routine when I'm doing competitions. It usually depends on the time I have, and the mood I'm in. So I would not want to have to keep changing Tags in order to do this - I prefer to just go through the posts and choose what I feel like doing at the time. But if they are all tagged into specific sections, it would be easy to miss out on something of interest.
