when booking through the sun you don't get butlins if there are 6 of you - they only offer butlins to parties of 4 or less. i found that out a couple of years ago.'bad mothers club' member 13

Does anyone know how much it costs to add Dinner, bed and breakfast at Butlins ?. Also, is it possible to upgrade to Silver accomodation, and if so, what's the cost ?.
There will be 6 of us going (2 adults, 2 kids and 2 juniors) so i'm wondering whether it's any cheaper using the Sun deal that getting it through the website.
Hi its £10 per person, if not done half board first off they send out a form which you can add when comes. its the same price for all ages but did get 4 year old free so might think it free for little ones. cant remember what upgrade was. the meals are for half board breakfast and dinner, on there own they are about £7 and £9 so much cheaper to do it before you go as tried when we got there last time and said it was too late. also if you do half board you dont get self catering app.0 -
yeah thats something to bear in mind, you get just bedrooms and bathroom with half board dont you ?
instead of living / dining / kitchen areas too0 -
So I think i've got this right. Going through the sun the cost breakdown is:
Per Person = £30 food + £9.50 booking + £9.00 Entertainment.
Total = £291
+ £19.50 service charge.
Total £310.50 in Standard Accomodation without a lounge.
For £100 more I can go in Silver Accomodation with a lounge via Butlins website. I can't find anywhere a mention of under 4's eating for free so have to assume we would be paying for them (as calculated above).
I don't think I could do it without a lounge, when I went last year the kids were on their knee's by 9pm at the latest so we used the lounge every evening to sit and chat.
I might use the tokens for a better value deal - any suggestions ?0 -
I guess it depends if £100 is a "lot" to you ? and whether you could cope with standard accom i guess ??0

To be honest I think the Butlins holidays are so popular that if you haven't been able to book one online you may not get one. In the past when I have had to sent off tokens, I have sent them off immediately I had collected the last one and have never been able to get Butlins. I have only got Butlins when booking on line. Other people may have found differently though. Hope you get the break you want0 -
I'm going with a friend and her 2 kids, so the cost would be split down the middle making it rather more bearable. Also forgot that you can get 7% through quidco by going direct. It all helps.
Thanks for everyone's feedback and advice. I'll speak to my mate and see what she wants to do. I think going direct and getting exactly what we want is what i'll do.
Also the "no more than 4" problem could still be around.
I can always try to use the Sun vouchers for another weekend break closer to the summer.0 -

i think id be inclined to do that0 -
is that 7% quidco on about £400? around £28 cashback? that makes the difference quite a bit less.
i don't know what sort of chalet butlins give you if you go for catered, i've only been self catering. i thought it would have a lounge but no kitchen?
i don't remember the details but we saw a poster for eating at the restaurant where the catered meals are, and it wasn't too expensive. just for the evening meal. we were planning to eat there but we were a bit too late because you had to buy a token from one place then bring it back to the restaurant and by the time we'd tried that we'd missed the cut-off point. but if you found out about the timings beforehand you could manage it. the evening meal was around £8 per adult but was cheaper for children, so that would make it a better deal than going catered, assuming that you could make do with catering your own breakfast.
my parents want to go catered because they eat a late breakfast of huge proportions, then don't have any lunch. we would rather have cereal for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch, then just pay for an evening meal.'bad mothers club' member 13
