How many bank / credit / reward cards do you normally use day-to-day?
Just curious how many cards people actually use regularly (not total accounts, just the ones you spend on or use for rewards regularly.

AmEx for everything I can, one card as a fallback for AmEx not being taken and one card for travel purposes but most days, if not most weeks, the other two dont get used so 1.1

Santander Edge cc until cashback is maxed out then Amex Nectar cc, Chase dc where Amex not taken + JL cc for Waitrose.1

Tesco credit card for purchases over £8 to get clubcard points. Chase debit for cashback on shops and transport. Monzo flex credit card for most other things. Plus a couple of virtual cards tied with Monzo pots for various recurring bills. So 3-5 in total regularly used depending on how you count it.1

it wouldn't be so high but for the number of "cards" that are actually apps so you don't have actually carry a card anymore.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Some really interesting replies so far, thanks to everyone who’s voted or shared how they use their cards. Just curious, for those juggling more than one, do you find it easy to keep track of which card to use, or does it sometimes feel like a bit of a hassle in day-to-day life? And if you mostly stick to one, is that for simplicity, or because you think the rewards aren’t worth the extra effort?

The opposite, because I dont see any others giving better rewards, it's only non-acceptance or where FX fees outweigh the benefit that I wouldnt use the card. For the former I use an alternative card that gives similar benefit.discountdavie said:Some really interesting replies so far, thanks to everyone who’s voted or shared how they use their cards. Card spending has gone down in recent years but previously was doing a lot of business travel which I'd have to pay for and expense so cards with uncapped benefits was preferable for me rather than having a card who's benefit maxes out at £1k spend or whatever.1 -
I mostly find it pretty easy myself (though that said I missed out on 3p cashback today because I accidentally used the wrong card, gutted!) With digital wallets like Google Wallet it's easy to swap between cards, but even when I used physical cards I found it quite easy. Plus with mobile banking I can quickly check balances and move money around in seconds. I can even see the transactions and balances from my Tesco Bank and Chase cards in my Monzo account, so it's all in one place and easy to see all the accounts at once. But I am also fairly young and comfortable with tech, which I know is an advantage not everyone has.discountdavie said:Just curious, for those juggling more than one, do you find it easy to keep track of which card to use, or does it sometimes feel like a bit of a hassle in day-to-day life?
