This is what I wrote as my defence before I got the letter saying they are taking it further
Dear Sir/Madam,
Subject: Appeal Against Parking Fine for Parking in Disabled Bay
I am writing in response to the parking fine issued for parking in a disabled bay without displaying a blue badge on 23/12/24 . I respectfully request that the court consider the exceptional circumstances surrounding this incident and cancel the fine.
On the evening in question, I was shopping with my disabled aunt, who is the holder of a valid blue badge. The badge was displayed on the dashboard of my vehicle, as required, when we parked in the disabled bay. However, the weather that evening was extremely windy and rainy, creating challenging conditions. The disabled bay itself was waterlogged, making it difficult to assist my aunt out of the car without her feet getting soaked while the car door was open. During this process, with the wind blowing strongly, the blue badge was inadvertently blown off the dashboard.
I deeply regret that the badge was not visible to the parking enforcement officer at the time of inspection. This was an unintentional oversight caused by the severe weather conditions and the practical difficulties of safely assisting my disabled aunt. The blue badge is valid, and I can provide evidence of its validity if required.
I kindly ask the court to take these exceptional circumstances into account and exercise discretion in this matter. I have always ensured compliance with parking regulations, and this incident was entirely due to factors beyond my control. I would be grateful if the fine could be waived on this occasion.
Thank you for considering my appeal. Please let me know if further information or documentation is required. I look forward to your response.
Yours sincerely,
