All seemed to work smoothly when I entered via Alicante a few weeks ago, no queue and registration was hardly much longer than normal faffing with e-gates.0

Malaga airport appears to be a problem, especially when a large number of flights arrive close together. It's a pity they don't install some of these machines landside at UK airports where passport holders could visit and register ahead of travelling.0

I previously mentioned problems at Prague airport. I dug a bit deeper and in one instance 5 Jet2 flights arrived in a 25 minute period, plus a flight from Turkey. Maybe airlines also need to look at their flight scheduling too.0

Its a two way street. Airlines wont simply decide to land 5 of their planes within 25 minutes without the airport agreeing first, its up to the airport and other third party contractors such as baggage handlers to provide adequate staffing to clear these aircraft and passengers.TELLIT01 said:I previously mentioned problems at Prague airport. Prague airport is big enough to handle the flights, the problem is getting people through the airport security systems.0 -
Might as well add my experience at Seville airport arriving 9th Nov and departing 13th November.
On arrival was directed to the EES kiosks to register.
What happened to myself is that the system stated that I had already registered (I hadn't) and to proceed to the E-gates. No questions, no registering of fingerprints etc
When at the E-gates, the system informed me that my details were being checked by police, the gates let me through and I then had my passport manually checked and stamped.
This happened to my partner also and many others from the same flight.

Thanks for that insight.Looks like there wll be significant teething problems in the meantime.Hopefully I'll have my Irish passport soon(ish) so I'm interetsed to hear progess, also thinking how it will effect Her Ladyship on a UK passport when I want to enter via the EU passport lane.0

In case anyone is interested, no E gates were operating when we landed @ Schipol but the passport control queue was the shortest we’ve experienced. There were dozens of machines wrapped in layers of plastic, like mummies, awaiting installation.badger09 said:Has anyone recent experience of Amsterdam?

We're visiting Prague in March and will be met at the airport, so we need to give a realistic time (as opposed to just the plane's landing time) for our driver. I've been searching to see if the situation's improved there at all -- Google's AI-based answers look suspiciously like the wording in months-old reports so can't be relied upon.TELLIT01 said:The new system is causing utter chaos at some airports. Prague is experiencing queues in excess of 2 hours on arrival, and almost the same for passport checks on the way out. People have been missing flights because of it. It's not as simple as arriving earlier because you can't do anything until you have checked in any necessary baggage and some airlines only open check in desks 2 hours before departure.
