Ok. So the shower was left with rawl plugs covered and your 2nd plumber confirmed it's all working with no issues.

Aside of you not knowing you were getting a new shower and therefore not choosing one despite approving the quote there doesn't seem to be anything else to dispute in terms of what was installed.

What was the actual issue with your water pressure? What cause /fix did the 2nd plumber provide?

The quoted price must have alerted you to the fact they weren't replacing a cartridge. They cost anywhere between £15-£50 plus labour.

You've shown you're more than capable of doing the Google checks for pricing.

What you were charged for a new shower doesn't seem excessive at all. You say it looks cheap and nasty but aren't happy with the price? Would you have been prepared to pay more?

Most Bristan showers look very reasonable when fitted.

I can't help but feel this in part comes down to you not asking questions at the time yet agreeing a price  and expecting something else altogether after the event.

I really don't think you'll get very far in court

As an aside the boiler costs seem reasonable and not excessive at all.

What made you think it was a Bristan shower? The plumber told me a cartridge would be around £3-400.  I didn't agree a price.  I would have liked to have chosen my new shower.  Still waiting for formal legal advice but so far I am going to take my chance in court.

If you're obtaining formal legal advice then there won't be any need to continue the thread, but I suspect that a solicitor's view will echo those expressed already and would be surprised if there was any realistic prospect of the shower cost being waived?

I would still be interested in other opinions.

What court action are you taking?  For the boiler, the shower, or both?

So there are. Lot of opinions regarding the cost of this.  Thank you What I have to ask is are we all being ripped off?  Because I was offered £1000 off the cost which would have brought it down to around £2883. interesting.

As said earlier, the time to debate the cost of the quote was before going ahead.

It may have been better to have titled the thread something like 'Being pursued in court for shower installation considered unsatisfactory' or similar, rather than mixing up what are essentially two completely separate stories that happen to be about the same company (who you were prepared to engage even after feeling their previous job was overpriced).

I did not realise the job was over priced previously.  It was only after the shower installation I started looking into it.  And their refusal to provide me with detailed invoices for me curious . Yes I should have titled it differently. Still doesn't answer my question which is are we all being ripped off?

Have you got any other quotes for the same install. To prove the point you were overcharged?

End of the day, the boiler has nothing to do with them taking you to court of non payment of the shower install.
