I have read through this thread and I was thinking outside the box. Coulfd the OP make a claim against Disney herself? If the illness came on as a result of items eaten at Disney surely the claim is against Disney or their franchises? Might even be worth checking her home insurance to see if they have a free "legal line" that advice could be sought with a potential claim . Who knows ,nothing ventured nothing gained as my Mum keeps saying LOL

I asked if she thought it was from the hotel or she had the bug already but its not been answered...
last time I went I was sick as a dog and I can actually pin point where I got it from but I never took it any further. You may walk and you may run

And every time the storm and the soul wars come
You just keep on walking0 -

I doubt it because they said they were sick within 2 hours of arriving0 -

Righto - here's our experience re the "old" E111, which is now the EHIC.
DS was on holiday in Germany when he got knocked out by a drunken football supporter. Someone, (unbeknownst to him) rang for an ambulance and he got carted off to hospital where, (because he was covered in scrapes and bruises from his holiday mountain biking adventures) he couldn't make them understand he hadn't been beaten up as such, but they insisted on keeping him in hospital overnight anyway. At that time he had no E111 or anything on him - it was all carefully locked away in the hostel safe and he couldn't remember the name of the place! Anyway, eventually they took his name and address and allowed him to leave. When he finally arrived home - the bills started coming......hospital and ambulance charges, well over £400 for one night, with no "real" treatment. We contacted the DSS who told him not to worry, he simply had to forward any bills to them. For the best part of a year the bills kept coming until there was just a £2 discrepancy left to pay and at that point they advised to send a cheque to clear
the final medical bill and that would be that - and it was!
Full marks to them for all their help, but it was nice to know that he did get medical assistance without showing the card at all.0 -

I wouldn't be surprised if it was food poisoning/poor hygiene. I've thankfully only eaten one meal in Disney Paris - they made 2 attempts at cooking/warming a pizza and still couldn't present it minus ice crystals in the middle!I have read through this thread and I was thinking outside the box. I'm sorry your trip was spoiled and glad that you have at least managed to recover some costs.
Better luck next time!

Although there is only an expiry date on the card they will know when it was applied for. The last thing you want to add to you're problems is being prosecuted for fraud. You were lucky your 'incident' was not a lot more costly! Learn and move on.
Not 100% convinced by this. The EHIC is evidence of your entitlement, which derives from UK residence. I wouldn't be convinced that not having the card means you are not entitled - it just means you can't prove it.0 -
Oh my gosh.
I hope you have all enjoyed your moral debate at my expense. Of course none of you have ever made a mistake and so are free to cast your stones willy nilly.
I came asking a simple question - can I reclaim my medical costs and received some advice from one poster that was very useful - Thank you again for that.
I dont think I need say more about the negative comments I have received. I am just glad that I, and most of the people I know are not so quick to appoint themselves judge and jury and hurl accusations. I do think the implications that I neglected to gain insurance purposefully and therefore am a bad mother are disgusting and those that hurl abuse like that on these forums are in my opinion cowards. I doubt you would be so quick to accuse if you did meet me in person.
I will not go into details of how the mistake occurred as it is completely irrelevant to my request for financial advice - as are most ofthe replies to my post.
It is a sad state of affairs when people are so quick to judge and insult - it does make me wonder what kind of lives people like that must lead...probably quite lonely....
Please feel free mods to close this thread as I have received the advice I needed and have a claim form in the post from the nice lady I spoke to who kindly informed me I could claim even without a card.
Happy New Year to you all.
Go back to post 2#.
I gave what I thought was good advice in that I didn't think you could claim for anything.
After reading all of this thread I still don't think you can claim.
I also don't think I was judgemental you asked a question and I answered.
Sorry if it was not what you wanted to read!0 -

Stop your bloody whining. If you don't like the responses don't read them. I don't know why you are even responding to them. There has been several posts here which have been helpful, but you seem totally focussed on the ones that are pointing out your mistakes.
Again, if you don't like them, ignore them.Amo L'Italia0
