I have been flying with BA quite a lot over the past year, and have found the app pretty useless, especially if I want to download my boarding pass after checking in.   I always get an error message telling me that the boarding pass cannot be downloaded, so I do as Doshwaster does.

I normally download the pass as a pdf via their website, then send it to myself so I can upload it to Google Wallet;  I also print off a hard copy in case all else fails as I don't really trust the app.

As regards flight updates, the Heathrow site or local airport sites are more informative than the BA app!

Hope it all works out for you and happy flying!

Yes, adding the downloaded PDF to Google Wallet (not sure if iPhones can do it) is a great hack. Really impressive how well it works.

Of course, other airlines can add a BP to the wallet directly from the app but that is clearly beyond the capabilities of BA's IT department.

Not that I'm sticking up for BA's IT which is severely lacking, but it's a very simple matter to add the BP to the Apple Wallet from the BA app. You can also do this from the email containing the BP if you don't use the app.

I do about 20-30 BA flights a year and have always used the BA App for checking in and BPs (at airports that allow them) for travel.

Thanks for info. I had no idea what the capabilities are on iPhones as I don't use them. I live in an Android world.

It looks like the iOS version of the BA app is better than the Android one which gets a incredible 1.2/5 on the Play Store reviews considering that 1 is the lowest possible score

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ba.mobile&hl=en_GB

The Apple one gets much higher ratings of 4.5/5

Sadly, it's not unusual for developers to put more effort into the Apple version of their app as they need to cover far fewer versions of the operating system and phone models. For Android there are almost an unlimited number of combinations which need to be supported - however, that is no excuse for not having a functional app on the current version of the OS and on a recent phone model.

I’m not clever or technical enough to use an Android phone so I stick to the Luddite iPhone ;)

I think you’re probably right about Apple and they seem to promote Apple within the company as a lot of their staff (flying anyway, not sure about ground staff) get issued with iPhones or iPads. So I suspect they are Apple centric.

Most of the complaints about the app on Flyertalk seem to be Android related.
