whatever phone she has weird things happen -

That the Achilles heel of any sort of tech, elderly people seem to find the most perverse ways of messing up the settings like they press random buttons 24*7. Should have a PIN controlled settings menu.

Once, she couldn't use her banking app, upon investigation she'd managed to delete Play Store so loads of updates hadn't been done.

I locked the home screen in an attempt to stop similar, unsuccessful.

Recently set up a smart plug for her then when I went back few days later to gain remote control, the app had vanished!

So the second time I removed the app from home screen 🤞🏻

Often she'll say that she's lost her messages, what she's done is create loads of homescreen tabs.

The times I've heard, I need a new phone, as I say Mum it's more likely to be operator error 😂 Although to be fair there was a dodgy handset she'd decided to get from a random seller on eBay.
  • I was gifted a Doro Leva purely for text messages and it's a nightmare!  I'm old-fashioned enough to still use whole words and correct punctuation but the process of typing full stops, capital letters, etc. is a real faff.

If it is smart phone, find a brand that her friends/ relative familiar with.

E.g. my dad asked me something about his iphone, I have no clue and everyone in the family using android...
