Tenth and final tip run with the car rammed full of ivy brash and roots. The car now needs valetting but I'm just delighted all the crap has gone at last.I finished a big crochet blanket about 10 days ago, and one of the cats promptly pee'd on it. And of course it would rain for days and days after that, so today with the forecast set to fair it was finally washed and dried outside.Today has been a finishing day of a serious number of things that just needed that last touch, and a day of setting the ball rolling on new things that need to be dealt with. After a month of semi-paralysis that feels like the best day I've had for a long time.Funny how one can be so stuck for so long and then get a whole load of things dealt with all in one day.Better is good enough.5

Morning all. Hope you're doing well today.
Wordle in three.
I didn't post yesterday, but it was just work stuff, dailies, dog walk and three washes.
Hoping to get grass cut today between shifts. Off to water garden now.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.6 -
Morning all, I managed to get Wordle in 3 today.
My list for today
Attend uni lectures
Take DD to the stables so she can check on her horse, no riding tonight as she had a fall last night so needs to rest as hurt her back but it could have been a lot worse
Take DS to his drama group and I'm staying tonight as helping again.
Remind DH to go to hardware store and get paint whilst I'm at DS's drama group
Organise bags, lunches and clothes for tomorrow.
I think that is everything that I need to tackle today, I hope everyone has a lovely Thursday. Hugs to those who want/need them.5 -
Morning all.
Valli, Quillion was still around when I joined this group (or at least her name was still mentioned frequently enough for me to recognise it). I wish her and her OH every happiness x
Sorry to hear about your daughter's fall from her horse, MMM - hope she recovers quickly and with no lasting effects x
Apologies for not having posted for a few days - I haven't been entirely lazy but I did have to take yesterday off all but the absolute essentials as I was feeling very meh. Better today, TG.
The ABs are doing their job and DH is a lot better than he was this time last week, but still no more inclined to get moving than he was before this latest setback. He thinks walking to and from his man cave twice a day is exercise worthy of his "hidden" store of biscuits!
Over the past 3 days I have managed to
- keep the house tidy
- put balanced, tasty meals on the table
- do WMx??, hang out, FUPA
- sort out some old clothes of mine which are only fit for the ragbag, now that I no longer have the excuse of keeping them for gardening
- update the church events website
- send an early birthday gift to DD and cards to various other people
- wrap DGD2's birthday gift in readiness for her party on Monday (praying for rain before and after, but not during!)
- direct and supervise J the gardener, who has chopped back the buddleia that was trying to throttle every time I went to the back gate, as well as the straggly pyracantha which, though even more vicious, is in a safe corner where it must stay!
- chop the pyracantha branches into small pieces so that they fitted into the green bin with a bit of room to spare
- keep the pots watered more-or-less regularly
- pick our own home-grown tomatoes for lunches, nom-nom - we've eaten nearly all the minis, but now the bigger variety is ripening beautifully
- eat some of the ripe plums (raw) that J brought us, and (after DH had also had his share) halve and stone and freeze the remainder to make plum cake at some future date
- deal with the carrier bag full of windfall apples that J also kindly gave us - though I was not so appreciative of the fruit flies that came off them - so we now have 5 containers of stewed apple in the freezer
- do two rows of cross stitch frame on 3½ sides of the picture that DH sewed: hoping to get the rest finished later today, but I can't do it under artificial light
The curtains have not progressed yet - that is my job for what's left of this morning, then we're taking Rosie up to the Forest for a change of scene and some lunch.
Keep up the good work, everyone xxx6 -
Still here.Daily stuff doneWalking done, nearly 700,000 so well pleased.Seems to be falling out of my size 14 clothes in places!
ideas for lycra shorts with a pocket that don't cost the earth please, I've tried main suppliers but they don't seem to do what I want, maybe there is a reason for that, the pocket is for my phone to count my steps via strava app. found some on temu but seem so cheap to good to be true, so I'll see what arrives.
SDD on her last chemo today, then in the next few weeks, she sees the consultant, and may be has an operation, all a bit up in the air until her appointment.Windy here today, I even have a jumper on for the first time in weeks as been only in tshirt and shorts.Red Arrows were wonderful yesterdayBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Hello Ladies (and gents), I went back to lurking/reading again but know I need to get on top of all the jobs.
I've been rewatching Sort your life out which has made me decide I do need to declutter which will obviously make cleaning easier.
I'm not really following the lists this week but I am doing jobs.
Mondays are always hard as I have my Grandson and as far as he's concerned it's Nanny play day even if DD2 comes over to help. And now he doesn't have nap time anymore I have less time.
I also try to go to my mental health groups on Wednesdays and Fridays (if I'm feeling up to it) so that cuts time again (yeah lots of excuses I know).
What I have done so far -
DW unloaded.
Gone through the airing cupboard, reorganised and bagged up old towels hopefully for the vets.
Blitzed my make up, nail polish and hair accessories, old, used and had it stuff has gone.
Cheap bits of jewellery that never get worn have gone too.
I've been through the cutlery drawer, tea towel drawer and general junk drawer and reorganised and thrown stuff from them.
I decided I should stop saving my "pretty" tea towels and actually get rid of the tatty ones and start using them. Old tea towels will be offered to the vets as well.
The DW has just been on again to freshen up all the bits going to charity (if I can ever find a shop that's taking stuff at the moment) and I'm just about to put the WM on.
Stopped to drink my coffee then I'll start again. At the moment I'm trying to decide what to do with recipe books I never use. I know I should get rid of them but I find it hard.6 -
@wendywitch
We have to rethink our attitude to posssessions when we want to declutter. You're doing well but you've stalled at recipe books. So here are my tips.- possessions have no cash value - doesn't matter what they cost - once they're in your house they have no value.
- possessions are a burden - they need to be cared for - whether its washing, dusting, wiping - and it's an onerous burden if you don't actually like or treasure them or use them.
Once you start to think like that then you're into what M. Kondo calls 'spark joy' - if they don't spark joy time to get rid. If you're still hesitant then get a box or a bag. Put said possessions in it. Stick in shed or garage. Label and date. Put a note in your diary to go and get that box/bag in 6 months. If, when the date comes round you haven't gone to get any items out while they were being stored then take to CS as is without even opening. As you get better at decluttering you can shorten the 'storage transit' time and maybe even not store at all!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Top decluttering advise there Valli. Quillion was before my time but I hope she will accept a fellow Flylady's huge congratulations.MMM - they do say a rider has to fall off seven times before they can call themselves a rider so I hope your daughter recovers and jumps back on as soon as possible.Went to the Foodbank but my stuff is kept in a filing cabinet and ... they've lost the key. So until that's found I can't really progress half the paperwork I deal with. I've bought the rest home.Dropped off a lot of bakery items picked up yesterday in the Morribunds TGTG bags at the homeless outreach support centre: I know, I know but there was food going for next to nothing and most of it we can use. And the outreach centre certainly can. There was even a cake in it today. The ood chocolates will be given to the hostess at tonight's Persian dinner to celebrate the birthday of a man who I'd guess is 60. He thinks he's done exercise if he goes to the corner shop for cigarettes, and often his mother does that. She's nearly 83! He is without doubt the laziest person I have ever met but I'm very fond of his mother. We're also taking a bottle of fizz, a bottle of red wine and three jars of homemade jam/marmalade so the fact that the chox are a couple of months ood doesn't make me feel guilty. I'm pretty sure they shouldn't have been sold but I'm not complaining. I need to freeze three dozen eggs.Wren's at the groomer so all her bedding is twirling so that the niffieness of both dog and bedding are dealt with at the same time.Have made two more Froggie phone calls, one of which has produced a good result and I'm waiting on a call back on the other.Eating it here.Better is good enough.6

@Honey_Bear If you know the brand of filing cabinet you can get a replacement key. The key number is engraved into the lock. I use Fast Keys.
