Travel pillows

I've only used a travel pillow, just a cheap u-shaped one, once and disliked it. In a few months I'm taking a long-haul flight after a cruise. I can't select my seat so will probably end up in a middle seat. I'm wondering if a travel pillow would be helpful.
According to a Which? review the Trtl was the best buy. They are also expensive. I'm hoping some folk on here may have used one and could share their opinion. Thank you.

Thanks for the review link. The link for the Trtl on Amazon was actually for a phone charger plug. I thought £8.99 was amazing value for the travel pillow!

Have you tried using the travel pillow with the gap behind your head? That way, you'll have more support for your chin.

No, I haven't tried that. I no longer have a travel pillow. I usually select a window seat and use the pillow provided to rest my head against the side. I recently travelled on two long - haul night flights with Etihad that were awful so I don't want to be better prepared.

I used the trtl when it was first launched some years ago.
I LOVE leaning for naps, but honestly I didn't find it that great. It also made my neck very hot due to the fleece fabric.

I would certainly try a travel pillow of some kind for a long flight.  If nothing else it will stop your head dropping onto your neighbour's shoulder and you dribbling down them as you kip.

Thanks. The Trtl is expensive so I would want it to be very good!

I have a wobbly fleece coat that's been around the world with me.
Folded it's been a back support and pillow which was more comfortable than anything I've tried.

It's a smarter version of this fabric

Unlike the smooth fleece we get mostly this was breathable so my face and neck remained cool.

I also use an mp3 player with headphones and some sort of soothing instrumental music to eliminate the noise of the engine.
A South African long haul they gave us stickers to put on our arms that said 'wake me for meals' or 'dont wake me'. Simple but brilliant idea.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

Versatile and money saving. I've used a folded fleece as a pillow a few times but I don't think it would work very well if I'm in a middle seat, especially one that doesn't have adjustable "wings" as a headrest.
