But really, why is it necessary to make it this hard?Very few Octopus customers seem to realise that since they became the largest energy supplier in the country they are no longer the same company that made them an attractive proposition in the first place. They don't appear to offer attractive tariffs any longer and are no longer willing to compete for business. Customer service is dire and their website is very poor.Unfortunately they're rapidly heading towards the British Gas model of business with that same feeling that they no longer need to try to attract new customers or offer competitive tariffs to keep existing ones.1 -
I am in touch with Octopus by E-mail.
As suggested in a previous post, I have asked them to honour the unit prices which would have been available to me had I been able to switch on-line on Friday 8th August.
Of interest is that I have been told in writing that there is an online option to switch tariffs and that it is normally available.
We’ll see what happens here.

That's exactly what you'd expect to see - scroll down for 'Your new quote' - likely higher than July fixes
The 'You'll be able to switch online closer to your tariff end date end' message on the mobile app is just a glitch - it just isn't working any more - the message is the same however close to the end, until they fix it.0 -
The point is, it's not showing available fixes, other than the one I am on and SV rate.0
-
But that new fix is £2187 p.a. vs. £2049 for the Current Tariff, and is not much better than the flex as is likely the case for everyone until better fixes appear.1

A picture = a thousand words etc.The top one is your current fix at £2049.11 annually.Underneath are the two choices you can make. On the left is the current fix you can change to at £182.33pm or £2187.96. On the right is the Flexible Octopus. No point in you changing to the new 12 month fix as it’s dearer than what you are currently paying but the option is there. As you say a picture = a thousand words.1
