For the first few years we were in the house we did wander up to the Hoe (it's sort of our back garden) to see the fireworks CoG and very spectacular they were. Then an unexploded WW2 bomb was discovered (not unusual in Plymouth) close to where they are set each year a few days before the event, so that had to be dealt with, which meant all six displays went ahead in one night. I went up to see them on my own that year - Belovéd was in London and the cats we had at the time were either deaf or were just used to it all - and realised that with 600,000 people all crowded on to one area of the Hoe I didn't feel safe. It was towards the end of The Troubles but they were by no means over and that end of the Hoe is where The Citadel is. 600k people panicking in that space would have produced an unmanageable stampede. Since then they're gone back to three displays on two nights and it's a great free event that Plymouth seems to really enjoy. These current cats are like all cats - they don't like loud noises but they're fine with the way we manage things. Wren was extremely worried about any loud noises when we adopted her and still runs for cover when I sneeze (I get sneezing fits which doesn't help) so the fireworks have to be carefully managed as we've only had her three years. My Belovéd didn't know I was going to get an air fryer, said he didn't think it was a good idea when I brought it home and refused to have anything to do with it for a few weeks, all of which I knew would be his reaction which is why I didn't mention it when I ordered one from Cuury's (sic). Then he said that the first batch of chips I made from proper potatoes from YouTuber John Kirkwood's method were the best chips he'd ever had and after a few months he eventually let me show him how to use it, and now he uses it himself loves it and loves it. They're useful if you want to use a tiny oven or deepfry without actually doing so and that suits me and amazingly fast if you get a good one. If I had to choose between an oven and an airfryer I'd probably choose an airfryer - Belovéd argued we couldn't do a turkey in it, but it would be easy to do a turkey crown and then put the legs in a slow cooker to confit them, having found a recipe I'd like to try for that the other day. I wouldn't want to be without it now.Flying today has been extremely minimal as I did waaaay too much yesterday and need a day of rest. I'll be back up and running tomorrow. Tidying, putting away, planning the next tip run, dropping something off at the CS *fling*, picking tomatoes, watering tomatoes, making tomatoes into lunch.Better is good enough.5

Sorry about Thursdays list…I did do one but must not have pressed save.
Yesterday i was up at 5 am, took my friend to hospital, Took a packed breakfast and ate there…was a private hospital as she’s in a health scheme so i helped myself to free coffee. Took knitting and finished the sleeve.
Unforunately she was sick post op so there was a delay bringing her home, to her mums as she wasn’t supposed to be alone, so I was there all day. I did peg out washing though.

Just dropping in to remind you that it's Friyayyyyyy woot woot. Soon be the weekend and forecast here says cooler from Saturday. Please let it be right.
Nothing exciting happening here- just the usual make the bed, feed the birds, fill the bird bath and the hedgehog's dish, water the hanging basket, put out the recycling, go to work, eat, sleep, repeat. Yawn.
Hope you are all well and keeping cool.

Kaz, I hope your OH is behaving and feels better. CoG, please look after yourself, in the midst of caring for others. Round - wooty woot, nearly there. Although the temperatures here for the weekend are forecast to be 27 degrees, so cooler it may not be, here anyway.
It’s been a bitty couple of days, but I believe that now and then I have done some flying. In no particular order, LR dusted and vacuumed, bathroom given a good scrub, washing up to date, ironing not so. I have been out for coffee with a friend and been to visit ex work colleagues. Errands have been run for DD who is away working for a few days.Today, in fact right now before it gets even hotter, I need to go and water the allotment. We are taking a friend out for dinner tonight to a new-to-us Italian restaurant as a belated birthday present. Fingers crossed it is ok as we have had a couple of disappointing meals at various places recently. I also have a stack of admin to do, but DH is hogging the space and the laptop. Such a shame 🙄, although now some of it really has to be done before it starts croaking too loudly.
Have a good day all. It’s Friyaaaay, soon be the weekend.4 -

Hope your problems are all sorted Valli xBeen pretty hot here today. Not enough washing for a load but I'll do some tomorrow. We had a walk this morning before it got too hot. DH not feeling too special so we turned down the offer to go out with DD1 and DGD. I think it would have been too much.Otherwise just general cooking, clearing up and looking after DD2's pets for the last day. They survived so I'll take that as a winHope I sleep better tonight than last night, just couldn't stop my mind twirling even though it wasn't about anything in particular.Hope everyone's OK x2

It's been very hot again here today.
DH started feeling ill again yesterday morning (another chest infection?) but parrots reduced his fever and he got through the rest of the day and night ok. However, this morning he was clearly not too good. Cue phonecall to cancel his clinic appointment as well as checking with the GP surgery that he didn't have an appointment there. Amazingly, the receptionist offered him a doctor's appointment this afternoon, and my suspicions were correct. We picked up a prescription for ABs on the way home, and he sat and coughed for the rest of the day. I had to keep an eye on him, so flying has been non-existent in this house.
I did sneak out for 40 minutes to do the tip run that I had booked for mid-morning, so at least I managed a bit of decluttering
Hope your weekend has started well xxx1 -
I have just dealt with a massive spider that had got into MissValli’s bedroom…she is terrified of them. It’s outdoors now.
Bed stripped and remade and i’ve had a shower because it’s hot.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
