Hi all
I have given the sofas a quick hoover, I swear our dog should be bald the amount of hair he is losing. I have washed up but I will wipe down the cupboard fronts in the kitchen, delimescale the sink and draining board and swish the bathroom between now and bedtime. I am currently enjoying a cold drink in the garden.
Otherwise it's been a typical day at the paid stuff, a tricky customer, a mix up with a delivery and some numbers that didn't add up.
It really is quite lovely out here in the garden.5 -

Morning all
odd day yesterday, I’ve now committed to having the dining room decorated so i went to order new doors for downstairs, then went to look for new DR furniture. Too much choice, basically.
Ive also catalogued mums archive and found an envelope to post it. Every item needed listing. There are 60 items. I’ll print it out today and post it.
Made a mistake measuring the louvre slats for my vertical blind and they are too long. I think i’ll be able to shorten them.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Morning all. It's already twot!
MMM, it's lovely to hear that you are enjoying being a student again. Don't forget to check what discounts you can get with your student ID.
Yesterday I finished sorting DH's chaotic cross-stitch boxes and started pinning the sections of curtain fabric together: I'm now certain it's a full drop, not half-drop as stated on the description, so a good thing that I cut the lengths with fabric to spare. I also spent an hour sitting with NND in her garden, drinking tea to celebrate her birthday and chatting like the pair of old grannies that we are.
Didn't manage Wordle this morning, though I should have. Opted out of doing Strands because I'm not a Hitchcock fan. Got 2 lines in Connections.
Today I must
- close the downstairs blinds so that we don't get fried
- check finances (awaiting a refund from O2) and download bank statements
- dust my bedroom
- order DGD2's birthday gift, once I've received the go-ahead from DS1 who is curating her list
- go to my Healthier You group. I have weighed myself and appear to have STS for about 3 weeks, yet I'm eating less, and all the right things
- start machine sewing the curtains
- organise a card for a friend who's 88 tomorrow
Keep cool and hydrated, friends xxx5 -
Morning all,
It’s a cloudy start here, after the stultifying (? is that the word?) heat of yesterday. It hit the 30’s, and was still 42 degrees in the gh by early evening. By the afternoon, I had lost all energy. However, good progress made in the morning before the heat truly took hold of the front of the house: bedroom cleaned (don’t look too closely), ensuite cleaned (again…don’t inspect it), wm x 2, pickled some beans and made apple chutney. Both went into large K!lner type jars which were to hand as there was no way that I was venturing into the loft to get the smaller jars. Mr M delivered, shopping dealt with.
I am off to have coffee with a friend this morning. The plumber was due to come first thing to fit the downstairs toilet sink and to connect the radiator. No sign of him yet. Not sure what this afternoon will hold, I need to get a grip and a routine as I am drifting rather aimlessly atm.5 -
Morning all
I'm shattered today, after the twot-ness of the past couple of days but meeting a friend later for nice relaxing lunch. minimal FUPA, PUPA, WUDUPA & S&Sing. Might run the vacuum round later when it's cooler.
Keep cool all

ETA Fayolle - 'stultifying' excellent word, permission to nick it to use later ?

Morning, it's another warm day here.
My list for today
Open windows to let air in
Go over to the yard and check on the horse
Do paid stuff
Remind the kids about their chores
Sort through the pile of back to school stuff in the bedroom
Label back to school stuff for DD
HHI
Check what discounts I can get as a student, thank you @ionafan for reminding me to do this
Go to the vet appointment this afternoon
Take DD to the stables so she can ride her horse and do the required tasks
Ask DH to check over the car and get me fuel for tomorrow
I think that is everything that I need to tackle today. I hope everyone has a lovely Wednesday. Hugs to those who want/need them.6 -
Morning all (I know it's gone midday but to me it's morning until I've had my dinner).I dusted and vacuumed downstairs and up the stairs and washed the kitchen floor. Did about 25 watering cans of water and plant food on the front and back gardens while it was cooler and cloudy. One washload out but not drying very fast.Went for a longish walk. A bit tired now and my back's aching. Never mind. Hope everyone's OK.5

Afternoon (just) everyone. It's not that warm here (23 degrees according to the car half an hour ago) but it's very muggy so feels worse. We've got the air con unit back on so at least one room is cool. This morning I went back to the bank about getting the money back from the residents' association account they closed due to inactivity. I went in a couple of weeks ago with my ID (as per the bank's website) and the staff there initiated the claim on their system and checked my ID but I then received a letter from the team dealing with it saying I had to complete an enclosed form and return it to them with copied of my ID certified by the bank. Consequently my first visit had been a waste of time.Anyway, I took in copies of my my ID, with the originals, and they said they would certify them (hurrah!). However, the person I spoke to said they are no longer able to return the certified copies to customers and she had to scan them and send them to the team herself. As I didn't have the forms with me and I didn't want to send them separately from the ID I asked her if she would scan and send those with the copies of the ID if I brought them in. She said she would so I now have to go for a third time. I just hope they pay up after all this faff. This afternoon we're going to some friends, wno live at the end of the road, for tea.I checked my bp several times last night and got quite a shock as it was quite high. I checked again this morning before I went out and again when I came back. Some readings were better than others but even the best was on the high side. I'll keep an eye on it but if it doesn't come down I'll make an appointment with the GP. I've put some weight on over the last couple of years, plus I have quite a lot of stress as a carer. I've largely cut out the bad bits out of my diet, including wine, and have lost 5 pounds so hopefully it will come down naturally but I think I may need some bp tablets, at least in the medium term. The only flying so far today is washing up A's breakfast pots.6
