Trainline App fraud

Buy getting it from a reputable market place like Google Play or Apple AppStore is the most effective thing. Second order would be checking who the developer is and if thats consistent for the app. If you search for "NHS" you'll find plenty of apps that have it in their title but arent produced by the NHS. Some of those are legitimate third party firms that do work with the NHS and some are certainly just trading off the name like the "NHS Number" app which is made by a firm that predominately makes access control systems.PaulDesmond said:No I did not subscribe. I was forced to verify my bank details. was told that would be charged £0.00. No money will be taken out of my bank account. I was not asked to sign up to any subscription only to use some internet to verify my bank account as genuine.
For simply buying tickets you do not need a bank account, the purchase can be made on a credit card / google pay.
Yes but he credit card would be used to verify and I would be subscribed on my credit card. I did not see a pay by google pay as an option. I was asked for my bank details.
But how can you trust an app?
You should have seen Google Pay, by Card and Paypal as the three options to pay in the trainline app. A quick google shows they added GooglePay in 20210 -
I have been asked by a doctor to supply receipts for train fairs but as I am using the trainline app, as soon as they are used they are deleted. How can I ge around this. There should be some kind of bank statment system.

Did you register an account? Or just buy the tickets "anonymously"0

Don't you get email confirmations of the purchases?0

I can see my history going back years in the app, and I can download expense receipts for each0

Yes, your bank statement will show the purchase to retailer. But that is all. Nothing about the date of trip or where to/from etc.PaulDesmond said:I have been asked by a doctor to supply receipts for train fairs but as I am using the trainline app, as soon as they are used they are deleted. are we sure its the right App and not a "copy" App? Looks different on my phone (IOS)? Trainline have a business App, could that have been donwloaded in error perhaps?0

As I suggested above, I wonder if the problem is that the OP has been diverted by an advert or otherwise to another party's app rather than the official one.TheMilkmansDad said:are we sure its the right App and not a "copy" App? I've not used the app in anger, but from poking around at it briefly earlier today it seems you can either register and account, or use it as a "guest" (i.e. without registering). I expect that if you do the latter then you won't get a purchase history. Same as with most online shops.
I'd still expect to get some kind of emailed receipt...?0 -
The train line app does not ask you to verify bank details
In fact the way you pay on trainline is via debit or credit card - you enter the card number and exp date as a 'saved card' and nothing is 'validated'.
When you purchase your ticket you select the stored card and enter the cvv to.purchase.
ps the trainline app is a green square with rounded corners and the word 'train' written in white0
