Trainline App fraud

Back in march I was in hospital recovering and another patient told me that I could pay for the train service using the trainline app. I downloaded it and I had to enter my bank details. I am taken to a page that tells me that they need to verify my bank details and informed me that a transaction of £0.00 will take place and I WILL NOT BE CHARGED FOR THIS.
A few days later when at home, I got a transaction of £29.99 to a company called myhelpshop.com. It appears that I had subscribed to. On their website I see. . .

Last week I needed to book a train but I had a new mobile phone. I had to download the trainline app. Again, I am told that my card had to be validated and no money will be taken out of my bank account. It seems that I have subscribed to an artificial intelligence company called vipcatalog.pro. I am 68 years of age and do not understand artificial intelligence. This is fraud and it is linked to trainline and their trainline app.
Anyone else found themselves subscribed to anything after downloading the trainline app.
I have booked tickets through the app so the app is genuine.

You don’t need to use the train line app to book tickets. Use the National Rail site for information and then book with the individual train company. You pay more with train line anyway.
It sounds as if you are somehow ticking a box and signing up to pop-ups which then have a fee rather than just closing them down. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Either that, or their device is compromised.0

If you want to use an app, then the train companies have them without additional fees.
I use LNER or GWR, both allow you to book tickets anywhere in the country, not just on the services they offer.0 -

I've just downloaded the Trainline app and tried to book a ticket. I got as far as payment and haven't been asked for any kind of "validation" or £0.00 transaction.
The tick box at the end there is a bit sneaky - "tick here if you don't want this" - which I didn't think was allowed anymore, I thought they should all be "tick if you do want" these days, but I may be wrong.
Did you tick this box? I suspect you received a no so "great" offer from a subscription company.

I wonder if this is like the swizz on the official Railcard website, a check box which gives you a big discount off the Railcard, but which also signs you up to an expensive monthly subscription of dubious benefit.0

The trainline do not make a monthly charge and they have no connection to Myhelpshop.com who would appear to be scammers primary using QR code redirect to gain people’s bank details. I can find no other incidences of this being linked to trainline on the web.

What device did you download the app on?

You can't install apps on an iPhone from anywhere else but the official Apple App Store, unless the device has been jailbroken.0
