iWeb Change to Scottish Widows

Worth noting that currently if you have a SW pension and it shows in your Halifax/LLoyds app, you can not remove it/ask for it not to show. AFAIKSevenUpPear8 said:
Sorry - ignore this comment of mine. I just saw QrizB's comment - don't know how I missed it!SevenUpPear8 said:Do Scottish Widows workplace pensions still show in people's Lloyds bank apps? Or have they been removed and now only available in the SW app.
Just asking as I don't have a SW pension, but I do have IWeb, so I wondered if this rebrand meant they might potentially also show the new Scottish Widows branded S&S ISA in the Lloyds app, or if everything will be moved to the standalone SW app (pensions, ISAs the whole lot).0 -
That's certainly the case with my wife's SW pension. We asked if it could be hidden from that app but, no, they seem to know what's best for us even if they don't.Albermarle said:

Kinda strange as they recently rebanded iWeb a little. Maybe this this was just some prep work to merge the offering.0

Appears to be just branding (trading name) change as 'The FSCS protection covering products offered by Halifax Share Dealing Limited will continue to cover your products under Scottish Widows Share Dealing'.jimjames said:I've just logged into my iWeb account and noticed a banner that they are now going to be known as Scottish Widows sharedealing which will also give access to the Scottish Widows app.

I wonder if this name change will increase their reach and profile to gain more customers that might otherwise have ignored them not knowing they are part of Halifax/Lloyds group.
It will be useful to have access to the app as long as it doesn't mean increased costs (they've said nothing will change at the moment)2 -
Yes. I suspect someone's belatedly woken up to the idea of trying to reinvigorate the far stronger and better recognised SW brand and this is any easy way to do it. iWeb has always been a weird one in the Lloyds stable, IIRC it was just a small dot com era broker Halifax bought in 2003.someone said:Kinda strange as they recently rebanded iWeb a little. Having had dealings with Scottish Widows over the years I consider it an inferior brand to iWeb !wmb194 said:

But I can see that this may be a minority opinion. If this is the start of screwing up iWeb I guess we'll all be looking for the next best replacement..6 -
I’m not saying SW is any good - for some reason Lloyds let it go out to pasture - but its brand has a public recognition that iWeb can only dream of.boingy said:

Whilst I disagree about the inferior part - SW is simply a larger name in pensions and investments with iWeb much more niche. It will be about getting more bang for their buck in terms of (SW) advertising and an increase in cross-selling.boingy said:

They also appear to be looking to rationalise their brand portfolio with Halifax and iWeb overlapping with Lloyds and Scottish Widows anyway.0 -
Yes, a mea culpa for me is that although I was aware of iWeb, I only considered them (and realised they were part of LBG) when they were suggested on this forum as an alternative when Vanguard recently changed their fee structure.wmb194 said:

Does this mean that IWeb have a SIPP offering again via SW after ditching AJ Bell?Do SW offer a modern SIPP anyway? I can't see much beyond workplace pensions, stakeholder pensions etc with limited fund choices0
