Why? Someone thinking of telling porkies? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Capita are uk debt collectors ....telling porkies is what Debt Collectors do to illicit money .0

If you mean, can you obtain a free TV Licence on the basis of a false statement that you are in receipt of pension credit, then, no, you can't do that.
"You will need to provide proof that you are 75 or older and that you receive Pension Credit. This could include a Pension Credit Award letter or Uprating letter, or a Warm Home Discount letter".0 -
I did not mean that.Cornucopia said:If you mean, can you obtain a free TV Licence on the basis of a false statement that you are in receipt of pension credit, then, no, you can't do that.

I have a friend who is over 75 and gets pension credit so he did not renew his TV licence.
He has had a visit from the enforcers and told them to Arkell and Pressdram themselves and as he is over 75 he wants them to try and take him to court as he is legally entitled to not have a tv licence and wants to know how far he can wind them up.

So to ask again, do the (SARCASM) enforcers (SARCASM) have access to whether or not a pensioner is receiving pension credit.0

I believe Cornucopia has answered your question above - they don't have access to that information, it;s up to the pensioner to provide it.sandyman80 said:So to ask again, do the (SARCASM) enforcers (SARCASM) have access to whether or not a pensioner is receiving pension credit.0 -
There's not really much point in trying to wind up the BBC/TVL/Capita people - they don't have much of a sense of humour and they are looking mainly for a verbal confession, so any sarcastic or otherwise non-factual conversation might lead in that direction inadvertently.sandyman80 said:

OTOH, they don't prosecute over-75s at the moment, so there's not much risk of that.
They can't take anyone to court without evidence of TV Licence evasion. Anyone is entitled not to speak with them, and to require them to leave. Doing either of those things is an accurate interpretation of the law, not a wind-up.
I doubt there is much potential for winding them up, generally, because they won't waste their time on addresses that are obviously not going to result in a Licence sale or a prosecution. There are only 165 staff and they have better things to do.1 -
I am over 75 and keep getting letters from them and have even had a visit from someone who said I wouldn't be bothered by them any more since I was over 75.
I have since had 4 letters and the present letter states that I am going to be visited by someone on a specific day.
So much for not persecuting over 75's0 -
None of that is prosecuting...JohnSwift10 said:I am over 75 and keep getting letters from them and have even had a visit from someone who said I wouldn't be bothered by them any more since I was over 75.
