So if they're not going to cancel it, are you saying there's no point in appealing? Pardon my ignorance here, I thought following the process on the newbies thread was the right thing to do.
It is if you think that you should engage with them , instead of ignoring them , but the result is the same,  stalemate,  they wont cancel,  you won't pay   !

The template appeal is not supposed to work, even if its embellished like you were planning to do

One thing a template might do is stop people from telling them who was driving, because many victims seem to make it worse by revealing it when they appeal,  like in this Apcoa airport thread

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6621292/stansted-apcoa-parking-fine#latest

Court is the only place where you might hopefully achieve a satisfactory outcome,  which is why I suggested that you read other threads about them and that location

Definitely appeal and even try the IAS because you said it used to be 4 hours (can you evidence that fact for the IAS?). It's a potentially winning point, where terms & times changes without extra signs to alert local drivers to changes.

Nobody pays GXS. Nothing happens. Doesn't matter a jot if the IAS disagrees with you. But give it a go.

Never park in GXS car parks! The entire set of side streets North of the seafront in Shoreham & Southwick are unrestricted. Park there.

Just to add: I don't understand why people look for car parks to park a car. Makes no sense to me when private scams are rife and the adjacent streets are unrestricted and free. Always choose public streets if you can.

    LadyBee Marina in Shoreham.
I know it. I'm the lady who was filmed on Shoreham beach for 'Parking: The Big Con?' with Alexis Conran, which I think you can still watch on the Channel 5 app, if interested.

     :)
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

As you've got some experience with LadyBee Marina, I was hoping you might be able to advise the next best step.

I received a letter from GXS apparently sent on 2nd August, although it arrived only 2 days ago (that in itself seems sketchy, there's no delays with any other post I've received), stating that the amount of £170 is still outstanding. I contacted them by email again requesting they provide actual evidence that my vehicle was parked for the times they state, but I got a very quick response saying that it's already now with Trace debt recovery.

Should I wait to hear from Trace, on the off chance they never actually follow it up, or would you recommend I take further action before that?

I had tried to contact Shoreham port to complain prior to this but never heard anything, I'm wondering if as you know this area whether there's an email that I can use to complain again?

    Thanks!
  • Trace are scummy debt collectors the PPC have given it to them as they think you will mess your self and give in, but they are just scary letter writers, you are in ignore mode. When a PPC hands over to a useless debt collector their contract is to leave it with them until they give up and hand it back, the PPC will not engage until they do.
Those images on the NTK are not CCTV they are quite clearly ANPR, I suspect that vehicles passing through to the marina are possibly whitelisted.
Apparently the port authority reduced the free parking time at the beginning of 2024 from 4hrs to 2hrs so the material change argument is dead in the water.
    Ignore the idiots.

Even if you do make complaints, ignore the powerless debt collectors letters,  be it Trace or dcbl or drp etc , doesn't matter to you because none of them can do anything EXCEPT send useless letters

The 2 that need to be dealt with are

    1) a Letter of Claim giving you 30 days notice,  likely to be from a legal firm,  in the post

    2) An N1SDT claim form pack from the CNBC in Northampton using MCOL in the post

Anything else is hamster bedding,  or fills the recycling bin!

A courtroom is where this would be sorted out,  if it ever got that far,  meanwhile it's ignore until number 1) or number 2) happen

We definitely wont be interested in powerless debt collectors letters like Trace, neither should you

Yep you were advised to appeal then try the joke IAS 'appeal' stage. What happened?

    You'll never pay.

Ignore Trace and don't show us those letters (thanks. They are in pictures in post 4 of the NEWBIES thread already!).

So use your energy and time this weekend or next, on this instead:

    FIGHTBACK ALERT:

Please do the government's Public Consultation. We need every poster to complete this vital survey before the deadline.

    See this thread:

We understand that you may need some pointers. It looks laborious, we get that. It doesn't matter; no knowledge is needed except re your own experiences so you can call out a scam industry and you'll protect millions of motorists and help change the law.

I've written some guidance to help focus new posters on the issues. I've covered almost every question, providing ideas if you agree with our stance on things like DRFs, which we say must be banned.

Ordinary people like you are falling victim to this scam 15 million times per annum. Motorists need your voice added please.

    CLOSES ON FRIDAY 26th SEPTEMBER.

I filled in the survey. It was pretty complex (have they done that on purpose?) so I'm glad there was a lot of guidance on it.

    I have a question regarding Trace which I can't seem to find an answer to searching or in the newbies thread;

I understand that I am to ignore Trace and not call them. However, what should I say to them if I accidentally answer their call?

Do I say "no comment"/hang up? Deny I know what they're talking about? Say they'll have to send me a letter and refuse to talk on the phone to them?

To clarify, I had a missed call from a blocked number and a text message saying it was them. However, my doctor for some reason often calls from a blocked number, so I can't just indefinitely ignore these calls. There's a high chance I may end up speaking to them against my will, so just want to arm myself!

How about 'Bye bye', .... or something more vernacular .... 'FRO'.  That should sort it!

I don't think Trace call people. If they do, tell them to write only.
