Very large beds generally arrive in more than one piece.  They wouldn't get them up the stairs otherwise.  Likewise the mattress, if the bed is truly 'supersize.  Move the mattress into an adjoining bedroom for one day, and separate the two parts of the bed base.
As above. It would be surprising if the base of the bed is not in two separate pieces, often just clipped together.

I would ask the fitters, if lots of moving things around is needed there may need to be two of them, for some of the time at least. This may cost extra of course but out local carpet shop didn't charge any more.

To all those who say just move it - us old frail people can't "just move" something like that. I can't even lift a single mattress!
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

It comes to us all! And it has come to us already. Carpet man coming to measure up smaller bedroom tomorrow, he’s going to cast his eye (and tape measure) over the bigger room while he’s here.

Everything is possible for a fee, plenty of carpet suppliers offer an uplift and disposal of your old carpet service. As for the bed, you just need to discuss with the fitter beforehand.

Some stuff will have to be moved, even if you have an accommodating fitter, you'll need to be able to clear half the floor space from one end, and then have a couple of strong persons to lift everything over the half roll of carpet to clear the remaining half.  If you really cant put any furniture in another room, some would be OK raised off the ground,  under a tarpaulin on a patio for a few days.

In my experience (small rooms in cottage and laying our own carpets) there are places to put furniture.  Weve moved the sofas forward and put chests of drawer stacked behind. I've put a blanket on the kitchen table and stacked there, with heavy stuff I turned the table on its side, slid it tight to the kitchen window then used that space to put wardrobes in.  Yes we were squeezing past to get to the cooker and dishwasher but it was only for a week.  We've cleared the sideboards off and stacked furniture to the ceiling.

I'm 70+ it just takes longer, doing a bit at a time.

Had this situation late last year - was absolutely fine. Our room is probably smaller than yours too.

Basically, bedding off, mattress off, probably on landing (they will almost certainly do this), then the frame can be moved by two of them as needed, probably put on its side.

Now, if you have a duvan with drawers fully loaded with heavy stuff, you'd be expected to empty it first of course.

Just make sure they know so they send two guys :)

Yeah, fair play! Although these days guys seems to be used as an all encompassing term anyway, as opposed to blokes or dudes!
