New carpet with a super king size bed

We have a typical 1930s 3 bedroom semi. We have a super king size bed with a very deep mattress in the biggest bedroom - not sure of measurements of the room, but it’s approximately twice the size of the bed. The carpet is looking a bit sad, ideally we’d like to replace it but we can’t envisage how the fitters could work round the bed. Dare say it wouldn’t be the first time they’d met this problem. Does anyone know how they manage?
It would be virtually impossible to move it out of the room.

I think they would expect the room to be empty, with the old carpet removed. That's certainly our experience.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

If the room is empty other than the bed, there's no reason it cannot be moved to one side of the room while the carpet is fitted at the other, then the bed moved onto the newly laid carpet, and the other side of the room done.
How easy that is will depend on how "approximate" twice the size of the bed is. Is there a reason you cannot measure the room size?
But make sure they're aware that's what you expect them to do.
Worst case, dismantle the bed and leave the mattress leaning against the wall, and they should be able to work around that too.1 -
Check with the carpet company and see what they say. We have a wardrobe that we cannot for the life of us work out how the removals company got it into our bedroom, as it's impossible to get it out now. Several hefty builders lifted and shifted, and it will not fit through the door in one piece (the landing outside is very narrow) which is how it would have gone in. Our carpet fitters managed to jiggle it around the room and fit the underlay and carpet.Make £2025 in 2025

We have a room that the only way to get a bed in and out is through the window. Fortunately it's a casement which opens out completely.
As for the king sized bed I'd ask the carpet fitters in advance. You could, as suggested, dismantle the bed and put it (in pieces) in another room temporarily but I wouldn't do this unless asked.1 -

Very large beds generally arrive in more than one piece. They wouldn't get them up the stairs otherwise. Likewise the mattress, if the bed is truly 'supersize. Move the mattress into an adjoining bedroom for one day, and separate the two parts of the bed base.1

In my limited experience, some carpet fitters are more relaxed about moving/working around large/heavy furniture than others. So you need to clarify with them beforehand what they will or will not do.
The ones we have had recently are fine with it, but we always clear as much smaller stuff out of the room beforehand.0
