Equiniti cant find my shares from Abbey National

Hi All
Hopefully I can get some advice... A million years ago I had an account with Abbey National and was allocated shares when it was bought out by Santander - stupidly I opted out of paper communication and forgot all about it... having been recently made redundant I was going through my finances and at the same time got my regular email from Santander Sharepoint reporting that I had been paid my dividend on my share holding - I called them to ask how I could see what I have and the answer was to log in with my shareholder number (which is on all paperwork comms but not emails!) - needless to say I couldn't find any paperwork from many years ago and was advised to write to Equiniti with my address and contact details. I did this and got a reply asking for more information... I sent every address I had (which was quite a few!) in the last 20 years plus copies of the emails sent referencing the dividend payments - again they have written back saying they cant find me under the details I sent...
I am at a loss as to what to do next - I am assuming they exist or I wouldn't get emails saying they do! What can I do to find this number as Equiniti are obviously putting the problem back to me and I have no further information I can give them!
HELP!

If you provided your email address at this point, I am surprised you did not also provide bank details for payment of the dividend. I believe Equiniti will send a the dividend by cheque where they don't hold bank details, but obviously this only works if they know your current address. Do you ever recall receiving dividend cheques?
Who is sending the emails about the dividends? You mention Santander Sharepoint, is this a typo? Because Sharepoint is a piece of Microsoft software. Equinitiy's online service for Santander shareholders is called Santander Shareview.1 -

So you haven't received any cash to your bank account? Sending an email to say a dividend has been paid could just be a bulk mailing list that includes old shareholders. Or is it detailed? E.g., stating the number of shares and the total amount that you'll receive.I receive emails from Equiniti Shareview at dividend payout time for a completely different holding. They come from no-reply@email.equiniti.comIt is addressed to Dear Participant rather than me by name. The email contains no info about my specific holding just that it has been paid and the rate/share that it has been paid at, and follows on to invite the recipient to login requiring your shareview username. date of birth and password to obtain the detailed dividend slip pdfTry going though the Equinit shareview lost username ID proceedureThe first page requires your email address and date of birth - no idea what happens on the next page!

You can always do a Subject or Data access request.. to the bank and Equniti (the would have transfer your data to the current organisation. ICO had said that there is no law to say how far back they need to store your data for but no harm trying. They have to supply all your data within 30 days but if you be specific about what data you need it can take less time but no guarantee. No need to mention you have misplaced your share holder number because more hoops to jump through, they may ask for it- as it will help them to do less work but they should still be able to find your records.
