  • I think I overcomplicated the budget this month by putting money in to a sinking fund for things I would have paid for from my "other" category in my regular budget. it also makes it look like I have more no-spend days as I keep track on a different section of the spreadsheet.

I will put aside money for holidays and car maintenance, but not for hobbies and homewares.

I might keep the one for the cat as I bulk buy his food and litter so I regularly go over budget one month and then under the next.

A big part of this journey is figuring out what works best for our individual needs. It's good to try new things but we don't have to stick to them if they don't serve us well.

  • Payday today so I've done the money shuffle and put everything in to the correct accounts. Last big payday before I go down to part time hours so squirrelling as much away as I can now. I'll apply for Christmas jobs soon since there are a few already on Indeed.

  • I'm back from a trip to Italy, it was great and I didn't spend too much. I'm so proud of myself for going as it was my first holiday abroad and I went solo.

I've applied for some Xmas jobs but nothing so far. I have enough with PT wages to cover everything but it would still be nice to get a boost so that I can spend more on the campervan conversion.

The weather is miserable and I'm struggling to find motivation to do anything. I should go and find the vitamin D tablets!

  • Well today was an expensive day. I now have a gym membership and bought a few things to start the campervan conversion. It will give me something to do while I'm not doing many hours at work, and allow me to get out and about a bit too.

  • I saw part of the tractor parade yesterday. Who knew there were so many different styles of tractor?! They were all lit up with fairy lights and tinsel, very cute.

Me! Last year I worked with a 12 year old who loved tractors. He'd tell me facts and quiz me to see if I remembered. I used to try and tell him a new tractor joke each week 🤣

  • I met up with a friend who I've not seen for a few years to catch up. Lots of changes in both of our lives so spent 4 hours chatting away over dinner.

She informed me that she was worried that I was not who i said I was since I reached out over FB messenger and she'd had some scams so she phoned me to see if it was really me. My big news is that I have transitioned and now I have quite a gruff voice, so she was even more convinced that I was catfishing her!

  • I have increased my monthly loan repayment by £25 which will save over £300 on interest and reduce the length of the loan by 7 months. When I am back on full time wage I will pay off a lump sum at the end of each pay period too.

  • A little round up of the week.

There's been a few social events going on which means spending more than usual, and since I live in the middle of nowhere at the minute, I have to drive everywhere and filling up a van is not cheap.

I've not planned out shopping either so I've had only one NSD this week so I'm not on track for the month, but I have reached the annual target so I don't feel too bad.

I did set up the budget for next year. The aim is to pay my parents back finally, save up for a bit of travelling and overpay the loan.

I will do a meal plan for the week and get that tomorrow. I have a few meals in the freezer as well as chicken breast, so it should be relatively cheap, just need lunch items and more cereal.

Today is training and then maybe the gym, then housework I've been putting off. I may even put up the Xmas tree. Fingers crossed that I resist the urge to buy a little sweet treat and have a NSD.
