Hi, please can i join, @grandmanerd? Thank you!5

Been getting better at deciding how many things to add to my to-do list for the day - finished all but one so far today. And may be able to finish that one if I can concentrate. Also made up a shopping list for tomorrow. Did my major shop today, and will get the fill in bits tomorrow. Will cover at least the next two weeks. I don't really like to shop. Except I am looking forward to going to our Dollar Shop (like Poundland) and to a thrift shop for my birthday Friday. They are both less than a mile from me but with doctor's appointments, stuff for the Friends of the Library, school classes (computer and knitting and crocheting), and taking care of roommates (1 officially, 1 unofficially), I haven't made it to either one in almost a year. That will probably be my vacation for the year also. Better than last year anyway.
And I will consider getting myself a new mattress this month. Decided 62 years use was long enough. It has been a very good mattress but with my bad back I need to check out what else is available. Just have to find one that helps me sleep better and where I don't wake up feeling worse than when I went to bed. I have also thought about checking reclining chairs for sleeping. Several of my relatives ended up sleeping in theirs and getting rid of their beds. Just have to be able to fit in the time for looking around.
Hot weather is finally coming to southern California. Our summer has taken its time getting here. I had to water the yard yesterday and today had to put water in the pool. The pool is mostly used by the next-door neighbor's kids. But I am glad someone is getting use out of it. It is hard for me to get out of sometimes.7 -
My purse went in my handbag, when I went out - a lovely taxi ride beginning at their office and ending back home. Yesterday I found one of my 'small' jute bags (I have had the lunch bag size once or twice) and now it's in there. I cleared the couch when searching, did all the cleaning and put on fresh bedding. I was determined to have only the most essential items - water bottles, tissues, the book I was reading - on the couch with me. However as I worked through the day, other items were added. Yesterday I noticed the jute bag. Mrs Builder had put some carrier bags in it so it was about half capacity. I added my diary, purse, pills (7 day supply), etc. Returned things I used to the bag during the day and then put it on the floor by the bed last night.
Yesterday I tried to do all the walking up and down the yard things early. Lots to the bins, clean dry washing in and more washing out. I did all the washing up and several loads of washing. By then my feet hurt enough (still working on that) for me to take my trainers off. I did more washing to the line late with bare feet (it only gets really tricky out in the back with the bins) but my last load was due to finish around 9 pm and I decided that would wait till this morning.
I did a small online shop, mainly to get plasters (had to hunt for the fabric ones). I bought a large assorted pack at the £ emporium about 3 weeks ago but can't find them. I've now got a plaster over the injury on my right big toe. I'm thinking I may have got a sliver of plate in my foot from brushing up bits of smashed plate (still investigating) and the plaster will draw it out..
My sleep pattern isn't right - I'm waking frequently in the night and dropping off during the day. I've now done a 'Jack Duckworth' repair on the mouthpiece. I also put the fabric straps in the WM and replaced the tubing that goes round my face with a proper small size one I found at the back of a drawer upstairs. The old one split and I could only find the med/ lge one at the time (they send 2 in the pack). Managed a couple of 4 hour chunks last night.
I also chopped a large bowl of cabbage and carrots (celery and leeks will be added) for salad/ broth. Did the cabbage standing up then the carrots later, sitting down. It's stopped raining now, so I'll go and put out last night's washing load.
Grateful for perseverance, making repairs, lovely taxi staff.7 -
Can I join please? Sorry late! Thanks for doing this challenge grandmothernerd and for all the motivational messages.
Always love simplifying. Sometimes better at it than other times.Meals wise and food shopping, I do plan and tend to batch cook. We’re happy eating same thing a few times in a row. Freezer is very well stocked so we can cut down on the food shopping this month. I bring lunch to work every day, sometimes sandwich or a mix of stuff to have on a plate.I’m not so good with the NSD so I’ll try from next week but I’m on holiday this week so unlikely to do.I will donateGrateful today for an interesting exhibition of Victorian rail travel (free), mostly sunshine despite the storm, delivery of our tiles for the bathroom re-do. Not due yet but tiles arrived in store and I was worried they’d give them to someone else 😆5 -
Had a lie in then did some exercises for my stomach, as put together by DS3. Discovered an email to say the boat to Aberdeen has been cancelled due to the storm, so spent a good bit of time rescheduling it for Friday. Unfortunately there are no cabins available, but we need to go, so will have to cope!
After dinner i went out to pick more raspberries. I couldn't get over how hot & calm it was! Went inside & changed into my shorts, then planted some plants we had in pots & bagged up lots of branches we'd trimmed last week, that were blocking the entrance to the back lawn. It turned cooler then & started to get windy, so came inside & did some jigsaw, whilst listening to the last audiobook CD.
Did the ironing after tea & some knitting. It's VERY wild outside, have shut the curtains & out a candle, made it feel very cosy 😀
Grateful for shelter, being able to reschedule our trip & the policeman being available, cosy times & my jigsawUse it up, wear it out

Sunny day here but still blustery. We walked our dog along part of the race course this afternoon. Home then went to look at some festival stalls for incense etc. Still all closed due to the storm. Got some in a nice fair trade shop though. Nag champa. That’s my favourite.Easy tea of left over spicy chicken cooked with pasta this time. Has loads of veg in it. Enough left for day 3 if I add some extras.Food planned for the rest of the week.Thrifty I’m sorry the ferry was cancelled. Storm has been quite bad and relatives further north in Aberdeenshire have been without power. Glad you have rebooked.Grateful for sunshine, blustery walk, scent of nag champa.4

I went outside today. I walked to the library and picked 7 books (4 large print). I forgot the 3 items to put in the food bank trolley, remembered whilst still in our street but wouldn't go back. Carried on to the GPO and paid the bill (lots of sitting down to rest. Then along the same street to the cash machine. I'm going to build up my in house cash store - I haven't needed it much so what I had, had lasted a long time. Went in HB for a few bits (and 3 tubes of antiseptic cream as I noticed I only had one left in the cupboard).
Sat down outside on a bench, drank a can and ate a pack of crisp. Finally walked the block further up to the taxi office. I've put my wellies on for the past 2 days - more room for my toes (also managed my big toenails - numerous unsuccessful attempts). Walked further than needed - stupid location always confuses me and they've changed it now but the receptionist and taxi driver were both really helpful and I arrived home safely (barely able to walk but ok).
Repaid DS3 the money he lent me and the toilet roll money and have just had my shower.
Grateful for library books, getting stuff done and working out route to get the things I needed without turning back once.5 -
Today I am grateful for the hoover extension so I could reach all the cobwebs, for looking around some mattress shops and trying them out, for Pip being invited away with his friend's family and it being okay to decide nearer the time, for dh's b'day present arriving, for good coffee in the morning.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!4

Dropped DS3 in the village for a bus, good job I did or he'd have got soaked! Did his exercise routine when I got back.
Did some cleaning after breakfast. This afternoon I spent the whole time looking through photos & deleting some, from the 10 years worth I've got on my phone. DH copied videos of the boys on to an external harddrive, was lovely seeing glimpses over his shoulder.
My brother phoned after tea, then I did a big of knitting.
Grateful for tidy areas, decluttering, selling an item on FB that I listed this morning 😊Use it up, wear it out
