Running out of cat litter so a Morries shop is imminent. I shall also get bowl fruit, carrots, onions, maybe a yellow pepper, crisp lettuce (to mix with the homegrown cos and lambs lettuce) and eggs but hopefully, nothing else. Milk was delivered this morning so all of that can wait until Monday. I pulled a couple of good sized beetroot from the community garden and cooked them to go with a couple of much smaller beets from our patch. Homegrown bean, courgettes and raspberries are keeping us goingSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

This week's combined shop-&-market raid came to £84.53; a few things will need topping up early next week but not much - yogurt, sliced bread & bananas spring to mind. A small Family Contingency spend (a sudden lunchtime visit from DD1 & fiancé) today of £11.08 will be added towards the end of the month if I think I'm doing ok! (Actually that does feel like cheating! But how else can I account for my offsprings' sudden urges to return to the nest - at mealtimes?!)

Afternoon folks
I don’t know where to start
First an apology for quickly scrolling through and not commenting.
2 days before the end of July DS1 announced we were staying at his to look after house, dog and cats. He had given us the wrong month previously. 31st July and not 31st August. Sending me in to a spin a lot of organisation had to quickly take place. Our poor cat who normally goes in the cattery had to remain home alone for the duration and fed by our kind neighbour (not been forgiven yet😔)
Soo lucky that I had done the Farm Foods bulk beforehand.
So the budget is going to be over I am sure this month.
Did a quick Lidl shop £29.96 before I went
YS bread x 2 in the range £1
McDonald’s on the way to Devon £17.27 (begrudged)
So lucky that I have stuff in the freezer so took down a lasagne for the first night
Went out for Sunday lunch on the Saturday night ( gorgeous pub full on the Sunday)
GC donated £30 to meals
Earlier in the day called in at the local shop and spent £3 on a loaf and milk
£8.50 spent on lunch at the village fete that afternoon.
Things were going well until a couple of days later when I became ill, don’t know what with, maybe flu or Covid.
And to cap it all we find ourselves also looking after DS1’s partners son
When you are not well it’s the last thing you want to do.
Sent DH to the local shop for more bread and milk, of course he had to buy cheese he fancied and bacon. Will let him off as he has been marvellous. £14.57
Should have had visitors on the Wednesday but obviously not possible, didn’t want them getting infected. So the sausages I had previously cooked from the freezer kept DH happy for a few lunches
On the way home yesterday called into Morries on the way back and got milk. Provisions for DH’s picnic as he (I should have been going) is going with DS2 and grandchildren who live 3 hours away (staying overnight) to a car racing event. £14.35
It does give me a couple of days to try and recover
Anyway sorry about the blurb
Total spend so far £118.65/£200
Hope everyone is ok

We ran out of bread today. Needed another loaf so sent hubby to the shop - he ended up buying bread, crumpets, mini rolls, and 3 bottles of Dr Pepper. Not sure of the spend as it's not showing on the account yet.Grocery Challenge 2024

Evening. I spent £2.50 on a loaf of sourdough bread at M & S yesterday afternoon. We tore into it yesterday and finished off the rest of it with the chicken soup I made for dinner tonight.
£180.39 / £400 spent. £219.61 remaining.
While making soup today I realized I was all out of carrots and a few other items. I’ll nip to M & S tomorrow for carrots, bananas, cheddar, milk, and baked beans. I’ll stop at Iceland on the way too for some bran cereal.

Oh no @TravelCrystal you’ve had a terrible transition between the months. I hope you’re feeling a bit better now and don’t get stuck with anything respiratory. Sending good vibes and warm soup your way.5

Many thanks @JingsMyBucket for your kind thoughts.
Feeling a bit better today thanks.
Think it’s easier to catch the nasties as you get older.
Muesli and Tuna roll was the order of the day

budget now £83/£100!! this is down to my DH deciding he must have bottled highland spring water for a month as friend down the pub says he shouldnt drink tap water its bad for him, so £18 spent on water.....i could cry!! i myself are quite happy with tap water..also all those 1.5l bottles going in recycling.....so just told DH we now have £17 left for the month so he can forego any cheese purchases.. she says tightening the boots straps once again!!9

@t14cy_t, I feel your pain.
Could he return them?
Perhaps pub visits should be forfeited for the rest of the month?
