Hi, I’m seeing lot of activity now on social media regarding specific BMW  years/models wanting people to join a class action.

I can’t find any information on this website or other sources only firms websites themselves.

I spoke to a couple this week and they say the latest update they have is that there will be an initial court hearing later this year in October or November but they couldn’t give me a date.

is this just a rubbish is there any planned class action yet for BMW emissions in the UK or are they just speculatively collecting names in case it happens in the future?

is it worth signing up now ? I checked a few T&C’s and with the after the event policy and VAT it’s around 50 to 60% of any payout they take . They all seem to be in this ballpark.

Would really be interested in the views of anyone who has owned one of the affected BMWs.
The greatest prediction of your future is your daily actions.

Wasn't there a case where someome tried one of these "no win no fee" claims against BMW, they asked for proof it was a Euro 5 by asking for the CoC and also tagged on a substantial counterclaim for legal time spent/etc, the rubbish legal firm messed up and the original complainant was out of pocket by a few hundred £££?

The mere fact you saw it on social media should tell you all you need to know.

They are called Group Litigation Orders or Collective Appeal Tribunal in the uk but colloquially as class action. Even the Financial Times referred to the case against Mastercard as "class action" ft.com/content/29e744bd-7fc9-4f38-9155-2e3a98c82720

They are basically us style scams that can go on for years. Legal firms typically canvass people to join their claim tempting them with the promise of large payouts. The legal firms make money and you might get some of it. It’s often worth the target companies paying out to make the claim go away. In the case of Mastercard they settled for 200m. Claimants could get £70 even if they didn’t have a Mastercard, yes go figure that one.

Does not stop them advertising and require you to pay some registration fee/insurance premium. Lawyers never do anything for nothing
