RWG terminating all users on e-sim's without warning - zero notice cut off

Hmm, it does currently say "Powered by the Now and Three Mobile Networks" at the top of the Rates and Plans page! But elsewhere the EE network is certainly mentioned, the APN settings are EE and the coverage checker goes to EE, but that appears to be the "standard" SIMs.
However I understand from Nowmobile that it's the Data Only SIMs which can be powered by either or both, see https://www.rwgmobile.wales/webshop/data-only/ but it would be worth double checking before you buy if it's the Three network you want coverage from as not all the SIMs seem to have that option (or are currently available).
Otherwise they told me that the "standard" SIMs are available, and in one of the other threads, someone said they'd ordered one and it was working fine.0 -
At one stage they were promoting data sims which were compatible with all four networks. However it certainly seemed to be their intention to move their call and data business to gamma and they were sending out gamma sims for pay monthly bundles. Iirc there was a drop down menu, ee or 3.0

Ported my RWG / Gamma number to spusu yesterday. Somewhat more expensive than RWG for my application but service is better than no service!N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

So far my sim is running fine and its one of the Free ones that i have had since Rwg started up.
On my phone logo it now says NOW instead of RWG but apart from that i am still getting my free allowance every month.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.2 -
I have a 1year data sim from RWG on their Gamma service. It’s used in my car to get traffic updates, check location of car parks, garages etc for the sat nav.
due to expire near end of august this year.
but it stopped working about 2 weeks ago.
have sent support requests to RWG, plus online fault report. No response.
finally I called the telephone number on the RWG website, which was answered by a Now support agent.
i explained my problem, and they stated that RWG no longer supported the Gamma cards, and the service had been terminated a month ago (mid July 2025) !!!
I was told I should have received a termination email and pac code, which I didn’t.
i was told I would have to get a new sim from RWG, which wouldn’t be on the gamma service.
i don’t need to keep the mobile number, as the sim is data only.
i also put a 1 go data add on at RWG to see if it was a lack of data allowance, but although they took y money (a whole £3), the order is not being processed.
i don’t give a damn about the three quid, but can’t be arsed to go thought Now and ask to transfer that purchase to a new sim.
i don’t trust any provider who terminates things like this.
i went through the same issues a year ago, because I had a Three data sim that promised 200mb traffic per month free ‘for life’
Three just stopped the service without notice and said although the offer was ‘for life’ they could cancel at will in their t’s and c’s
anyone recommend a good data only sim deal?0 -
DavidIT said:anyone recommend a good data only sim deal?Scancom have some decent deals (I have one of their SIMs) but the cheapest I can see for a low user is £14.99 for 1Gb (total) lasting a year:If you think you might need more than that, they also have a 20-month deal for £34.99, for 3Gb a month.Look through their various permutations, I haven't searched exhaustively.N. Alarm bells started as all the reasons that you look for this happening suggest it's part of "sim swap fraud" so whilst trying to contact RWG, a pointless exercise it seems, she went around changing all her passwords and 2FA contact number.
The PAC code wasn't just a you've got 30days, it also said that outgoing voice, text and data would cease with immediate affect. Not only that, but it turns out incoming is also dead so the number have effectively been put out of service with no warning and without her permission.
Finally managing to get hold of RWG this morning via chat, they or their AI bot said that ALL customers with e-sims are being immediately issued PAC codes as they are moving away from servicing that business model.
No warning.
No email.
No sms to explain, just a PAC code with ominous message.
They even took the money off two days ago for another month's rental !!
Which will be reversed via the bank in due course.
Therefore a warning to all on RWG; it seems you'd better leap before they kick you off.
They are a dead network walking.
She's now got a new SIM with a different provider and has to wait till the PAC code is implemented so effectively cannot receive calls from anyone that had her number until that is hopefully actioned shortly.
Disgraceful behaviour by RWG and a complaint will be going to ombudsman and compensation sought. Will be checking T&C for breach of contract.
This could have been handled better by them and much more reasonably with a simple automated sms and even a week's notice.
I guess they just wanted a month's rental for free.
Anyone have any ideas how I can save my number?
Does anyone have a mobile phones regulatory body's contact details, to complained about RWG/GAMMA? This shouldn't be allowed to happen0 -

Send an email to mobile@gamma.co.uk and explain you are an RWG Mobile customer but were told the service is ending, you've failed to receive a PAC and that RWG are not responding to emails. Hopefully they will be able to help you out.1 -
