Cheap espresso machine - sounds like it's going to explode!

This was my first venture into buying an espresso machine - this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Daewoo-Espresso-Barista-Quality-Measuring/dp/B0D66PDWGZ

I don't think the coffee is too great, and it's a bit of a faff.

It's a bit noisy making coffee, but acceptable. However, when I turn it on to steam, it makes an awful bubbling, noisy racket. Is that normal for this sort of machine, as it sounds pretty scary?

I'm thinking of putting it on Facebook marketplace half-price, to get rid of it, but that's because of the poor espresso. I don't want to sell someone a machine that's going to explode.

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

One of the Amazon reviews (search for noise) has a video.  How does it compare?

I like my coffee black (no froth needed!) and like the simplicity, size, and ease of cleaning and storage of this:

Coffee taste is all down to the beans used.

Given the way the boil the water, they do make a noise. Steam even more so. Pop into your local coffee shop & listen to them..

The coffee from traditional aluminium made moka pot is darker.
I have a 3 cup Al and 4 cup stainless steel one. the 3 cup Al one seems to be better...

That one look very similar to the aldi one.
Search review for aldi espresso coffee machine at youtube. There might be youtuber did a demonstration such that you can make a comparison.
  • They are noisy. I prefer a filter machine myself. To get the best taste you need to grind your own beans so they are fresh and keep the beans in an airtight container in the freezer..
I use Costco San Francisco Organic beans, £11.99 for 900g. This is the nicest coffee I have found and good value.

You are not getting a decent espresso machine for that price. No doubt it's built so cheaply that the flimsy plastic body is struggling to contain the pressure.

De Longhi have a nice budget espresso machine in the Dedica

I doubt you'd find anything decent at a cheaper price.

If that's too much then just get a cheap cafetiere and use the money you've saved to get a better grinder and better beans.

I have a 4 cup. Genuine bialetti one but lately I'm getting inconsistency.

The 'cheap' coffee I'm buying from the supermarket (uchia or whatever it's called) comes out just fine but the expensive coffee I buy from the local independent coffee shop has been bubbling way way too early & I'm getting barely anything out. I've used this coffee before and it's been perfectly fine but it's just very inconsistent lately. Any ideas?

Depends how finely it is ground, how much it has been "tamped" down, how moist or dry the coffee was stored, the machine's pressure, how clogged or otherwise the tiny holes are in the filter basket, the water temperature (i.e is the thermostat working properly) etc etc.
