Any particular reason you didn’t send the last ones back?
I shall wait and see if I get my new licence without sending the old one back,
I have 28 days to send the old one back cut in half.
The last one came within a week.

Just say you have lost the old one, there is a facility for this on the application form0

I just got a letter from DVLA thinking it was my new licence but no ! just a form to fill in and to enclose my cut in half licence.
I'm not saving the value of a stamp this year.0 -
When I renewed my over 70 licence, last year, it couldn't be completed online because I don't have a valid Passport. Previously it was fine after declaring the picture, on the licence, was still a good resemblance.I had to submit a postal application and recent mugshot - photo booth and select Driving Licence picture. As above the expiring licence had to be enclosed with the application form.To be fair, the new licence was received within 7 days after posting the appliction.0

When I had to change my licence for a medical Licence they asked for my old one to be returned within 10 days before they would issue the new licence - this was two days before Xmas so was rather dubious that it would arrive by the deadline. I sent it recorded delivery and had my new licence within the 10 days.0

AND...... you lose C1 rights unless you take a medical, some motorhomes are PHGV (over 3.5t MAM)0

When I renewed my o/70 licence I realised that the start date of the new licence was the date I made the application and not the date the old licence expired (a month later). This is apparently correct, but is a bit of a con if, like me, you have a medical each time, so in future I won't be renewing long before the old licence expires but will wait until the last moment.0
