I didn’t take part in that switch so can’t comment on the process or quality of hotels.
The only hotel (up to page 15 as it wouldn’t let me scroll further) I’ve stayed at, several times, is the Ibis Styles Birmingham Airport/NEC. It’s fine for an overnight before an early flight but not exactly a destination hotel!
I think you need to narrow your search.
    Where are you based?
How far do you want to travel for a one night stay, or would you pay for additional nights?
Do you want a city, country or seaside break?
Not suggesting you answer on here
but once you’ve narrowed it down, you could check Tripadvisor, Google, Booking.com etc reviews on the hotels offered
    Enjoy

I switched in February, so should get the hotel offer in September. However, I could have sworn it was for Mercure hotels only?

Well there's 175-ish hotels on that list spread GB-wide UK-wide (although none appear to be in London) and, annoyingly, no map.

Quick trawl says I've stayed in one of them about 10 years ago and it was a bog-standard city-centre 3* Mercure.

There is a basic pub based one in Greenford (outer London) but I would probably pick a Village hotel or Ibis Styles or Mercure somewhere else as I always opt for air conditioning.

Still deciding but tbh none of them seem that appealing.
