My email said that my card and PIN would arrive in 7-10 working days. The card reader took longer to arrive. It was all slower than I had expected, but that was not a problem for me.Birdman2015 said:I had a text and email from them today saying the account was now open and everything I need will be with me within 7-10 days.0 -
My pin and card came very quickly, about 3 days after opening account online
Card reader took about two weeks
My digital banking password came in the post very quickly too
I was quite impressed how quickly and smoothly everything went
The only thing I don't like is that I can't make transfers via telephone banking - has to be done online only
That's fine as I have the App - but it would be handy to be able to do it by phone if the Internet is not working1 -
The card reader is for those who don't use the app, or have a smart phone etc. I'm one of those who doesn't use a phone, but does everything online. So I always use the card reader. It's very secure, I can settle bills, set up new payees. standing orders and use NWide as a nominated bank account, despite it being a building society.Section62 said:ranciduk said:
One or those little calculator style things from about 2005 2025!
Do people still find they have to use it?
And for what?Mainly for adding new payees, but can also be used as a logon authenticator.Even if you only use the app you are likely to need it at some point, so don't throw it away.Nationwide say they are working on alternatives so the card reader isn't essential any more, but wait until you are sure that has happened before getting rid of yours.0 -
I use the app for logging in etc. However I still need the card reader when setting up a new payee.bendipa said:

Have you tried to remove the need for the card reader, in the app?slinger2 said:

It didn’t work for me at first as I had frozen my debit card. After unfreezing it, it updated immediately, and I could of course freeze my card again

Thanks. I wasn't aware that such an option existed. I've set it up now to use my photo.friolento said:
