I don't use the app myself, but have seen on a different forum about the app asking for the card reader to be used at unexpected times.ranciduk said:Thanks
do you find that once you’ve added a new payee, subsequent transfers to that payee via the app don’t require use of the card reader?

Oh joy!!! So it's random0

It tends to ask for the card reader if you're sending money to an existing payee that you haven't paid for a long time. If you pay them regularly, you shouldn't have to use the card reader.1

Okay
Is the card reader straight forward to use? Mine doesn't even have an on/off switch!0 -

The only 'difficult' thing is paying attention to which function you need to use. Most of the time it will be 'Identify', but sometimes you need to use 'Sign'. Quite easy to follow the 'Identify' process by habit if you miss the instruction to use 'Sign'.2 -
Thanks
seems a bit of a faff but if it keeps your money safe then….0 -
Sorry to bump an older thread but how long after having your application accepted do you receive your account details?0

I applied when I had a protective fraud marker. I was asked to send scans of a passport and bank statements. At first I tried doing this in branch, but they didn't know how to do it, so in the end I just emailed the fraud them, was all approved after that.1

I opened a Nationwide FlexAccount recently. The account opened almost instantly, but it was three weeks before everything arrived and I was fully up and running. I had a savings account with Nationwide 16 years ago, but they did not recognise me. They did a hard credit search, despite the fact that I did not ask for an overdraft.1

I had a text and email from them today saying the account was now open and everything I need will be with me within 7-10 days.1
