Hi, it was a sponsored ad on google when I asked for good investment ideas. VCL Vinters, their own ad was quoting consistent 10+% per annum but I haven’t looked any further.
From the answers above it looks like some must have looked/tried and completely against.

My Spanish house sale doesn’t go though until next spring so just asking questions.
    Thanks for your knowledge OWO1

You may as well just typed in "I'm a mug waiting to be ripped off. Show me some options" ;)

Honestly, stick to mainstream and don't go into niche areas where scammers are rife.

Ah well if they say 10% it must be true. A bit like the holiday park returns - they promised big returns - and mentioned you might lose money in the small print.

There are two problems with investing in whisky.

    1. Most whisky does not increase in value, and even when there is an increase it's often not enough to cover the costs of dealing, handling and storage etc.

    2. Some whisky investments are a scam and it's hard for punters to spot them. Some rogue companies sell the same cask more than once, others just sell imaginary casks. Just like the real companies you'll get a real certificate in return for your cash....

Within this I think there's some factors which will further stunt value increases.

On the supply side, I suspect a lot of the bottles that have gone up in value are not being drunk, a lot of more recent releases will have been speculatively held and new distilleries are coming on stream.

On the demand side, the likes of China have been going off Western luxury brands and increasingly interested in their own heritage. Meanwhile, many seem oblivious to history and that drinks go through cycles/fads.

If you have to ask the question then I assume you don't know much about whisky.  That in itself should tell you everything you need to know to answer your own question.
