I'm updating this as I have my BT bill today - and as I half expected  BT have managed to make a meal of it (or should I say make a dogs dinner of it).
Not a massive one so I'm going to pay it and ignore it. It's only for £1.16 more than the £16 that it should be.
It does say that my regular bill will now be £16 a month.
    However looking at the billing for this month, (see below) and slightly rearranging how it is laid out to put things in date order;
    •  They have charged my old rate of £15/month for 12 Jul - 16 Jul (That's not explicitly stated on the bill but is evident from the partial months refund below)
    • They have charged the non-existent £18/month rate for 17 Jul - 21 Jul
    • Then they have billed a £16/month rate after that 22 Jul -11 Aug
    • Then they have refunded some of the £15/month rate that I had already paid in advance on 20th June, it's refunded for that part-month period of 17 Jul - 11 Aug.
So they have charged £18/month - a Home Essential rate that doesn't even exist - for 5 days last month.
5-days that strangely start on the 17th when my billing period is actually the 12th of one month to the 11th of the next.
And remember that with BT that period had already been paid for in advance. (Hence the refunded amount).
What I had pay by DD on the 20th of each month is actually to cover my use from the 12th of the next month.
I can't be bothered arguing that they have overbilled at what is a non-existing rate for 5-days.
I suspect that if I did complain then they would only make things even worse.

Same for me...having done same as you.. slightly different figure for the latest bill as presumably I had a bit less of the higher charge period in the month... but next bill £16. I conclude the same as you do... complaining may make things worse... for a pound or two not worth it.

Mine's is still estimated at £15, but says "your bill may be higher due to recent changes to your account or services"

For now, it's still down as Home Essentials with Home Phone and Broadband. It states my contract ends on 05 April 2026 when the prices should go from £15 to £16, as per the MSE email a few months back

It does seem they might have applied the £3 rise to all accounts
It appears that if FTTP is now available to you, there are 2 plans available 36mb at £21pm, and 67mb at £24pm.

There is also a no-income plan available at 36mb at £16pm for those with no-income.
    No Income Plan
To be eligible for the BT Home Essentials No Income plan, customers must have no income at all from any paid employment, or have anyone else in their household receiving any income from any paid employments. They must also be in receipt of income related benefits.
The person in receipt of the eligible benefit must also be the named account holder applying for the BT Home Essentials plan.

A forth plan, (only for those where fibre broadband is unavailable), is £15pm for ADSL at up to 16mb.

And finally for telephone only customers, an unlimited call only plan is available for £10pm

The annual £3 or £4 rise in April should not apply to any of these plans, but prices may rise upon renewal.
