Smartphone-carrying male accessory for when the weather is hot and only have hip pocket for phone

I recently lost my smartphone when out in shirt sleeves and only had a hip pocket to carry my Smartphone in. BTW, I found it eventually in a café I had visited about 30 minutes earlier. If I keep relying on a hip pocket or just holding my phone in my hand everywhere I go this summer, I will surely lose it again with probably worse consequences.
I have been looking at belt pouches on eBay, but, they are quite big and do not look too secure. Also, I do not really want to look too like a tourist when shopping in Tesco's!
Has anybody got any suggestions for solving the problem?
I have a recent Samsung Galaxy which is 168X78mm wide.

Would a phone lanyard be suitable?
I have this one in a soft gold / green colour(olive) but it also comes in black, dark grey and a few other colours.

Edit: I normally have my phone in my shorts/jeans pocket, rather than dangling but using the lanyard means that if it pops out it just hangs down, and doesn't drop out.
This one is perhaps more "male" in design.

That is a good idea. I did a search on eBay for a bag, but they are all very bulky and would not easily fit into the side pocket of my trousers. A simple fabric one in black would probably work, but I cannot find such an item. Have you any ideas, short of actually making one, though that is what I might consider doing?kimwp said:Zippered bag for your phone that you pin to the inside of your pocket?0 -

I have thought of lanyards. Using the landyard idea might work if only to attach the phone in hip pocket to my belt. Certainly worth considering.0 -
What about a running belt?Mistral001 said:I have been looking at belt pouches on eBay, but, they are quite big and do not look too secure. Also, I do not really want to look too like a tourist when shopping in Tesco's!Has anybody got any suggestions for solving the problem?
They are comfortable compact and discrete and could even be worn under a t-shirt if preferred.
Go for a simple design such as the basic flipbelt or I have the Parkrun belt ( https://shop.parkrun.com/collections/apricot-accessories/products/parkrun-multi-pocket-waist-belt# )
Various types are available, typically from around £20.4 -
I do not have these. I would consider getting cargo long trousers, but I am really looking for something that would work with the trousers I already have.QrizB said:I know nothing about you or your sartorial situation, but cargo shorts work for me.1 -
It can be difficult finding the right search terms for things like this. I tried a few and "zippered cloth pouch" got fairly close. They mostly have zips along the long end though, a homemade version might be the way.if you make it a slim fit, you could use a single popper to keep the phone in the pouch.Mistral001 said:

There was a recent thread where this topic was touched upon - although that poster's needs / query were different from the OP's (and focused on running).
The OP may find the thread worth a glance regardless in case it add anything helpful to them.
