Hoping someone can help? DH gave up co car as he has retired, we bought a Nissan Qasquai, relied on a video viewing (first mistake) Little bits not as expected but its nearly 2 years old and done 18k in miles , only has 1 service stamp that the dealership did at 18k. Thinking it should have had one at 9k? They've told us its got just over a year left of the manufacturers warranty which will transfer to us but I'm worried if its missed a service it'll invalidate it? Will it affect the value? 23k bank transfer. Pig in a poke? Or am I worrying too much? tia

You need to ask a dealer if it's still covered.

Personally I would not buy a car that was not serviced yearly even if the manufacturer claims it never needs servicing.
And I don't rely on stamps in a book because the car could need a lot of work and the owner can just get an oil
change and decline the other work.

Most manufacturers now keep service records on computer, so there's no need to stamp the book unless the customer insists. The lack of a stamp doesn't necessarily mean there was no service. Nissan UK should be able to confirm whether a previous service was done.

Also, have you checked the service schedule for that vehicle? It may not require an annual service, and simply rely on the car telling you when one is due.

Did you buy from main dealer or private sale?
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

  • I thought Nissan would warrant a car for a year when you get it serviced with them upto 7 years old?

Phone your local Nissan dealer and ask if they can check for you. When I did this, they were very helpful and emailed me the service record.

You are going to be putting a lot of money into this. Can you arrange to see it in person?

Ps. Make sure you are familiar with the Consumer Rights Act

Thanks for this but we've already bought it and had it delivered! Just wondered if this will have an affect on the resale pride? We have a 14 day cooling off period I think
