As it seems Global Warming is on the march as the last few weeks and maybe for the future.
My wife suffers with health problems in the heat despite trying the various tips to keep the house cool etc.
Looking to install a single wall mounted AC/heating during winter in lounge or hallway and external pump.
See systems can be purchased as DIY supplied via Samsung and Mitsubishi etc.
In deciding which route I take, would I be eligible for the Gov scheme of £7500 grant in having one AC unit and pump or take the Option of DIY.

You won't get the grant unless you're (a) a certified installer and (b) replacing your boiler.
F -Gas regs mean that legally you need a certified installer even for split aircon, although pregassed kits are available and can be DIY'd.
    Twin-duct through-wall is probably the most DIY-friendly?

There are a few units that use R290 coolant which get's you around the F-gas regulations so in principle you could fit one yourself (assuming you can plug it in to a pre-existing electrical outlet).

Definitely not a diy job even the professional have mixed success. if you don’t have solar I would look into the first. Heat pumps use quite a bit of electricity.

I would consider Solar, but my 2 sides of the roof face East/West

Perfect. More even spread of electricity throughout the day from two faces.

When checking online at various installation companies, its always been said 'not suitable'.
The Apex is south facing, so only one side faces east or west 'morning or evening' during summer months.

yes but you maximise self consumption saving more money.I think in early days of solar south only was the view but as prices have reduced east west is coming more in to the equation.
