  • Are you breastfeeding? Breastfed babies tend to have runnier poos than bottlefed, but breastfed poos tend to smell better, apparently!!

I'm not breastfeeding (lasted about a week - had cracked nipples that were more painful than being in labour, so I threw in the towel, felt guilty and cried a lot and then eventually regained my sanity!) but the formula she is on seems to really agree with her (thankfully!) and the midwife said her poo was similar to a breastfed baby - runny, non smelly and frequent !!

I bought a cheap fleece blanket from Poundland and cut it into baby bum sized squares and lined the nappy with it. It boosts the nappy absorbancy and you can wash them too.

Have a look at this link, this shows how to fold a nappy (prefold nappy) for boys, but is very useful for (soft/runny poos) due to the fanned out bit for the bum

we use cotton bottoms and they used to have a picture on their site of how to fold a few different ways, have looked today but it seems as if they have been bought out by tommeetippee and they have taken this off their site :-(
  • hiya, i too tried prefolds/ rectangular cotton squares, quelle nightmare, runny poo!!!!
Since then i've tried Kushies, terry squares and prefolds again. Now i vigorously recommend what i use on dd 10 months old...TOTS BOTS BAMBOOZLES with Motherease Rikki (Velcro) wraps, absolutely fantastic for 'containment' if you know what i mean! Motherease make popper wraps to (airflow) but i never got on with these. If you can get nature babies popper wraps they are really good too, (and come in cute designs/colours)
I can't recommend Bamboozles enough though, esp. with fleece liners, try finding some on e-bay perhaps...

My boys are 6 and 8 and were in terry nappies, saves on money and landfill waste! Wish they had diddy diapers then, my youngest was a tiny tot and when home at 5lb terry nappies burried him. Been hunting for night time pants for an older child but having to buy the disposable PJ pants at the minute as he grew out of the last size I managed to get a little while ago. I might contact them to see if they can help, thanks for the link!
One day I might be more organised...........

They also have an ebay shop:
    http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Time2Change-Real-Nappies

and I found this shop too:
    http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Peachy-Cheeks-The-Nappy-Shop

Not used either shop, just bookmarked them ready for when I need to order nappies!
Here I go again on my own....
  • My 6 month daughter is in various types of cloth nappies but we rely on good old terries as well as they are so flexible and can be used in so many different ways. As well as nappies they are good for lying her on at nappy off time, blankets, bibs etc. I always have one handy!

I no longer use pins though as nappy nippas are the new thing :D

I have 40 terry nappies as a friend gave me all hers after I had bought mine. I just can't seem to get rid of any though!

Will take a look at this site as I still have £40 to spend from the local council. I need bigger wraps for her.

sorry if this has been done before

i have gone back to using real nappys (last used them a good year ago)
at the moment i am washing my prefolds and the wraps at 60 using just non bio washing powder has anybody tried washing at 40 or is this a no no, i dry pail and wash each night at the moment as i have 2 in them

i use paper liners so anything nasty as such is thrown away i have heard that fleece makes a good liner but how easy is it to dispose of the solids! and can i get away with using on of my small colourfull baby blankets for them

sorry lots and lots of questions always come from me, was reading about disposable nappys today and after what i have read i dont think i can bring myself to go back to them
