The ombudsman decisions currently don’t agree with you. Maybe we’ll see a different ombudsman give the opposite view?fest0r said:

I don’t think we will. It does feel like they have closed ranks at the FOS. It will probably need some people to take it to small claims to try and get a different view point. Although looking at the FB group, most seem to have given up and moved on to greener pastures.fest0r said:

Santander did not do that according to the Ombudsman. Santander was entitled to introduce a monthly charge and did just that.fest0r said:

In my case the FOS ruled in Santander's favour for all the same reasons. I had opened the account in 2005 so no difference there. I've decided to move to Monzo to avoid further fees from Santander. I'll be glad to see the back of Santander1

I am being charged now as well.... very annoying.
I have opened a Mettle and a Tide account. Both are now up and running, but I need to move all the debits etc... I have been too busy to deal with this but am getting there.
One issue I have is the paying in of cheques. Mettle do not have this facility I think and Tide only up to £500. What does everyone do about this?
Once I am sorted elsewhere I will be closing the Santander 'free forever' account!!
Many thanks in advance.

Briefly: went to Ombudsman - they are siding with Santander, though I could not produce my original T&C's and ads/leaflets etc (it is decades ago and I tried) so I was in a weak position records wise. Not sure having that would have made a difference with the Ombudsman based on the interactions. Still, if everyone in this was honest, it really was no question a 'fee free forever small business account' in operation. What 'fee free forever' means to each, over time, is bemusing. So moving on. All the best to anyone else still trying ... and congrats to anyone who succeeds !3
