Having spent most of the winter gazing out the window and planning my new patio/landscaping in my mind, it he time has finally come and I really don't fancy the idea of working in this heat. Is anyone else putting off work due to the heat or am I just looking for excuses?

It’s very hot to work outside atm.Possible tactics:
- Get up early and get started before the heat builds. Mr KK and I were outside at 5am today - him concreting a path and me weeding (in solidarity with him 😉). He’s desperate to get the new paths and paving done before autumn.
- Avoid working between 11am and 2pm to avoid the worst of the UV.
- Try to follow the shade round.- Pay someone else to do it! 😉

Yes, I have things to be done but it's 32c here at the moment and I'm still tired from trying to sleep in the heat.
It will get done when it cools down. The jobs definitely aren't going to go away, they'll still be there.
Sometimes it's a bonus to put it off because you think of something better while you're waiting 🙂I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Yes, I've got a new shed and need to make shelves etc in it, and then transfer all my tools and bits from the old shed to the new one. I've been putting it off for about 2 weeks. I may finally do it tomorrow. I tend to work much better if I go out early and make a start. When you work full time, evenings just seem too tiring to be working outside1

Good news is that the hot weather with no rain means the grass isn't growing so there's no mowing to be done!!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. In Spain they start early and finish by 10am when the heat starts to build. So, i'd learn from the people who experience this weather more frequently than us and also suggest an early start.1

Not gardening for me, but sewing. The early daylight is a boon. I’m working from about 6am to 10am.0

I'm getting up very early atm 4am and am outside in the garden by 4.30am in order to get any jobs done by 8am. I leave any watering until late evening 9pm. The rest of the time I avoid the garden as even with sun cream & keeping in the shade, I burn!~ NSD 2025 - NSD July 20/20 (6 x💯)# Spectos/Royal Mail Monitoring and Posting Panel - Ongoing~ Totally FREE Christmas 2025 - 🎁✉️🏷🎀💐🪪🗒🧺⭐️Completed Challenges 2025:# No.36 Make £2025 in 2025 £1634.34 / £2025 (58%) (3) 💯💯+# No.12 Save £2 a Day 2025 2025: £730/ £730 💯# No.27 Save 1p A Day 2025 £667.95 / £667.95 💯# No.19 52 Week Env Challenge £1378 / £1378 💯# No.34 Save £12k in 2025 £13,429.74 / £12,000 💯 - Continuing1

Sometimes my day consists of finishing the gardening by 10am, return indoors for breakfast and then sunbathe between 11am - 1.30pm, followed by watching tennis in the afternoon. It's a hard life but someone has to do it !4
