Parking Code of Practice Consultation 2025 - now let's see what happens

Doesn't need discussing really: it is funny and true karma but it wasn't a fine for breaching any consumer protection law.
I did raise it with the MHCLG and it has been very timely in helping me to flag a concern about the wider regulatory regime. So it has had traction and was noticed by the MHCLG.

Sorry Coupn. I fail to see what the useless MHCLG will do with the very limited time this goverment has left

I'm not giving up even if the next government has to pick up the pieces. Been there done that and it's only been 6 years so far!

None of us will give up but how do we wake up the dead ?

CMA fined ECP for failing to respond (properly) to an external enquiry. I guess there are many motorists who might wish to have similar power to get companies to respond! PARKEX is in May - I wonder if BPA will be quite as cocky this year about their regulatory future.
As to picking up the pieces, that looks to be a likely requirement. Remember the ATAs are winning every day that the CoP is delayed, a tactic that is working very successfully for them.
Persistence in playing with MHCLG is admirable as long as it does not become a nugatory lifetime activity. This topic needs successful closure, something that has not been achieved in 6 years. There has been consistent pressure, but not enough (yet) to overcome the persistent disinterest of the MHLGC "system". Perhaps that system is also using delay as a tactic, awaiting a fully-effective CMA engagement? A good idea as long as CMA does not lose focus on a small-fry concern in the face of bigger fish?

I was weighing up with going to Parkex again this year but realised i had booked 3 nights walking in the South West Cumbria area (away from the tourist areas) or 2 nights in Coventry , it didn't take much deciding

Maybe closure is nearing @Protest....See today's posts in Parking News & Media thread. Is this BPA having one last throw of the dice to convince government???

I posted this in Parking stories in news media thread too.
Press release:
Alongside helping businesses to comply, the CMA is also protecting consumers through enforcement action – and is progressing its first investigations into pricing practices under the new powers.

Alexander Armstrong - Pointless appointment ! 😂
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

26/2/26 - The Government has responded this petition
Act to ensure Bills backed by MPs & public can complete all stages in Parliament
Read their response in full
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/752673
While it was an interesting informative response from Government for those of us with little knowledge on the law decision making process I'm not sure it was quite what the petition creator was after.
I felt she saying that those who are responsible (Government) for steering Bills through Parliament really need to 'up their game'. So that these Bills do actually progress to completion and are brought into force, rather than they "run out of time" or "join the list of "not yet commenced" something I recall Protest has posted about.
With the signature count now 79,027 and increasing daily it won't be long before it hits the 100,000 signatures required for it to be debated in Parliament.
Although the petition did reference the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill it is also relevant to the Parking CoP. Six years have passed Govt past and present haven't managed to successfully steer a Private parking CoP to completion.
