As a WLR withdrawal exchange, product restrictions apply
SOADSL is not restricted at the exchange
For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.
For all SOADSL services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.
Actual speeds experienced by end users and quoted by CPs will be lower due to a number of factors within and external to BT's network, Communication Providers' networks and within customer premises.
In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values.
ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL availability: If shown at FTTP or SOGEA premises,ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL are not available to order due to WLR Withdrawal stop sell rules. CPs should order FTTP or SOGEA. A Talk Talk phone number won’t work on that BTw site , but presumably the OP used their postcode,
ADSL/SoADSL is all that’s available according to the DSL checker , strange how the OP stated Sky and others both have ‘fibre’ and no fibre at the same time ….the BTw DSL checker shows no FTTC or FTTP but Openreach are not the only network provider .
If the OP is in a rural area , where the postcode covers a large area , it’s possible that some parts of the postcode can get FTTP but other very near areas cannot2 -

The exchange checker tool says there's only ADSL or SoADSL available, which is what you've got now.Neither of us can understand why you're being offered "fibre".N. Hampshire, he/him. unfortunately I think I am going to have to stick with TT - I went onto a couple of sites independent of MSE but ones that had come up on the price comparison I did and they both say not available in my area! Thanks for replying everyone - it's appreciatedThe mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o

Just because the Openreach network doesn't offer full fibre where you live, doesn't mean that there isn't another FTTP network where you live. Where I live, for instance, I have access to three different full-fibre networks (Openreach, CityFibre, and County Broadband). There is a good little tool on the Thinkbroadband site, where you enter your postcode, and you can select all the fibre networks, and it'll tell you which networks are in your area. Failing that, if you can only get copper services, there is Low Orbit Satellite internet. But this can be quite expensive. The biggest one of those is Starlink, but there are a few others.0

Have you checked with your neighbours to see who they use and the speeds they get?
An alternative is to walk around your neighbourhood with your mobile phone and check the names of the service providers wifi connections. It isn't a foolproof method but it may throw up a few alternatives.
If they all come up with Talk Talk then you are pretty much stuck.1
