This morning I spent a couple of hours running errands. I'd not left the house in about 4 days so the brisk outdoors was just what I needed!

I've been contemplating how best to tackle my finances. I'm full of new year energy but it's establishing the good habits then sticking with them that's going to make all the difference. I was talking to DP the other day about how stressful Christmas felt with not having saved up as much as I usually do, and I don't want to feel like that again this year. DP is on board with this and I've been working on my pots and how much I want in each of them. I think this is going to take some shifts in thinking - whereas in some aspects I'm actually really frugal - I rarely go out, I don't drink, I like to cook from scratch - there's things that I struggle with.

And whilst to some, my debt is comparatively small, it's all relative isn't it?

To those ends, today I have:

    - returned an ASOS jacket that looked great on the 5' 9" model on the page but swamped me, I am definitely not 5' 9" and it was nearly coat length on me!

    - picked up four or five bits I needed from Lidl rather than Asda which is also near to me and all were the same price at Lidl or cheaper

    - picked up my hair dye that was on offer at Boots and was ordered using a gift card I had so was no cost to me either to buy or for click and collect

I've decided to hold off on writing up my credit card balances as there's still a handful of things pending as well as returns so the balances are fluctuating day-to-day atm. I will do this next week when I've returned some more things.

I'm a little under the weather so I'm off to bed and I know that because I've been thinking of money stuff, it'll be the first thing I think about when I wake up in the morning!
