Package holiday booked with TUI but flight is with BA

So we have booked a holiday for next year with TUI and normally when we have done this it has been on a TUI flight.
However this time the flights are with BA. On the TUI app it says we have to go to the BA website to check in and provide things like API.
The BA website doesn’t recognise the TU reference number provided.
Is this normal for this type of booking and will the system recognise the booking nearer the time? If not then how do we provide passport information, do the online check in etc?
normally, with every other holiday booked we get an email telling us to provide the passport numbers but that is where the flight is by the same company we have booked with.
Thanks

Do you know if it is a BA schedule flight or a BA charter flight? If you post the routing/flight number we can possibly tell.
All likelihood that a BA reference number (a PNR) will be generated and provided at some point. That can be used to then access the BA site. For BA charters, there used to be a separate website that could be used and would accept tour operator references. In either case, you really don’t need to worry about accessing and adding API until much nearer to departure date.

I have flights with easyJet with tui. The reference works and I can look at our flights. I would get on to tui to get the correct reference0

Deleted, misread the OP.
Did start mentioning Easyjet but then realised the OP isn't going with them, so totally irrelevant 🤣1 -

Tui have provided a reference number in the format of TU12345678 which it says is what we need to use to access the flight information on the BA website. The BA website will only accept TU1234 for example and then says no booking can be found .0 -
Potentially you are doing it too early then and you get a different code nearer the time (which is how Easyjet do it)1

Looks like a schedule flight to Geneva. Though the tickets booked may well be in a class reserved for the trade. You could ask TUI for the BA booking reference in order to credit the flights to your BA exec account, though whether they will earn tier points or Avios is not guaranteed. If you have any sort of status with BA I would want them credited.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. TUI use other carriers for their package holidays.A couple of years ago we flew back from Nerja out of Malaga on a BA flight although the outward leg was a TUI aircraft. It was a seamless booking etc. - no having to manage anything through BA - obviously a contract to supplement the Spanish holiday market on a fixed weekly cycle. It would have been to allow a combination of 7 or 10 day flight cycles over the high season. If you are having to deal with BA it sounds like you are on their scheduled flight, as suggested above.I would be reaching out to TUI if you are unclear on any aspects. No issues, BA were fine - and the snack meal and drink were complimentary, rather than TUI's overpriced offerings.0
