Please keep in the back of your mind that you are dealing with an unregulated scam industry the parking companies give their "services" free to the landowner for the benefit of creaming off money from people just like you that have made mistakes like this. The IPC and the IAS are tied in together by the same director there is no real appeal system, the IPC brag (in advance) to prospective members that they reject over 95% of appeals. The vast majority of private parking companies only make their profits by catching people out breaking the rules, if you had paid up they would make nothing, they actually want to put you in this position where they potentially get money, even though the landowner gets nothing. This is why this forum exists to try to help people against these charlatan bullies!3

Thanks for this. Apologies for the delay. They've written to me today, a debt collection letter saying I have 14 days to pay £170. It was dated 14/7/25. Unless I'm mistaken you guys have said I should do NOTHING right? No writing to them and no payment? I know how annoying people like me are so please don't feel the need to respond if I got that right. However, if I'm wrong I need you to be like Big Bird with me. My comprehension isn't what it once was!

Please revisit the photos of the £170 threatograms in the 4th post of the NEWBIES thread. The pics are there to stop people asking and fretting.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

No problem it can be a bit disconcerting for people who are new to this, but so called debt collectors are used by the private parking operators as a free frightener service, they provide their services free to the parking company and they send out carefully worded letters that don't mean very much. But essentially they are powerless as you don't have a debt only an alleged debt.4

Now read this message and please prepare to join us to do the Public Consultation once we've discussed it in August.
It's vital the Government hears from Defendants threatened by court. Tell your story. Shoehorn it in somewhere, maybe in answer to why cases go to court (q13 or 14):

Please bookmark the main thread linked in that link.I bet you want to join us and tell the Government that:
(a) the IAS is useless and not impartial (it MUST be replaced with a single appeals service as a proper independent safeguard) and
(b) the added £70 is a complete joke. Why are people with disputed charges being threatened with £170 charges? This makes people refuse to engage, as court is a far better option and the only dispute resolution offered.
The DRA fee MUST BE COMPLETELY BANNED. This stage is torture. Tell them!
Come back in August to take part.
We need to drown out the 'alternative facts' from the parking industry and their relatives posing as ordinary motorist consumers.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Evening Coups. I wanted to thank you for this. I'll share it with all my friends so hopefully they'll both fill it in🙄Coupon-mad said:Now read this message and please prepare to join us to do the Public Consultation once we've discussed it in August.

As for this ticket, the latest is a letter saying it's being past to a debt collection agency for recovery. This was followed up with another letter saying THIS was the final letter. Both have been ignored.3 -
Afternoon forumites. I hope you're all well. I just received a letter (after ignoring the previous 3) saying they're preparing legal action. Quick recap, I was in the Iceland car park for 13 minutes and I'm a blue badge holder. I already lost one case where I didn't put my clock up, surely the Gods will not punish me twice this year?!0

You LOST a case in court? Despite the fact BBadge clocks aren't required on private land?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi Coups. Apologies, no. I lost at tribunal and that one was a council case.
This case (my Iceland car park case) is the one in on here for. This was on private land. I parked with my badge but didn't purchase a £1 permit which would've covered me for the time I spent there.0 -
Completely different. Chalk & cheese.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
