Should I sign up with a legal firm?

They Responded initially saying that I don’t need to do anything that they have my inquiry I think they lresponded again saying I might have been affected but I cannot find that second message.
should I let one of the law firms pick it up now?

We’ll be in touch with an update in the next 28 days. It’s taking longer than usual due to the high number of enquiries we are receiving at the moment.

Why would you hand over to a 3rd party who are going to take a cut.
Until FCA & the courts come to a decision. End of this year maybe....🤷♀️🤷♀️
Going on your own or via a company will not get anything any quicker..
So just sit tight, 👍Life in the slow lane1 -
If you want to involve a third party then make sure you know their terms of business and how much you will pay them if you have a successful DCA claim.
As you've already had an acknowledgement from Blackhorse I think you should just wait for the result of the FCA investigation.
They cannot update you until that process is complete so stop emailing them!1 -

They Responded initially saying that I don’t need to do anything that they have my inquiry I think they lresponded again saying I might have been affected but I cannot find that second message.Everything suggests they did pay discretionary commission at the time. I remember the interest rate being much higher than I could get via a bank loan and when I mentioned this to the salesman they said fine but I cannot offer you for this price. If you get your own finance this price is only available if you finance it with us and also the PCP deal Reduces your payments in the short term, whereas external finance will not. I was younger and new to this kind of thing, It was my very first new car and was pressured to take their finance even though it was a higher interest rate Because he was discounting the overall price if I did , it felt like they would be less supportive if I brought in my own finance and I was thinking if anything goes wrong with the car, etcThe last email I have from them is in November 2024, message below. I’ve sent message them twice this year on the email provided asking for an update and receive nothing back.

Don't use a third party, they are claims firms not lawyers and do not have any special powers, plus they could well bill you for time wasting if they find out you have already registered your complaint and thus would not be entitled to any payoutSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Should I sign up with a legal firm?Only if you are silly. The last email I have from them is in November 2024, message below. I’ve sent message them twice this year on the email provided asking for an update and receive nothing back. You wouldn't do. The FCA suspended the complaints process on car commission until the court cases have been completed.
Perhaps you don't realise but all that claims companies do is send an email to the lender with a list of name, addresses and tell them to look into those. They don't do anything else.
As it stands, the current position is that the FCA is looking to put in place a section 404 redress scheme should th courts rule against the lenders. It has said it will be in a position to consult on that within 6 weeks of the courts decision with a view to commencing it in 2026.
A section 404 redress scheme will likely see all complaints made to date closed down and claims companies taken out of the equation to save all those silly people that used one. The consultation outcome will lead to a decision on whether consumers have to opt in to the scheme or whether it will be automatic with lenders having to review every sale.
So, you sending chasers to black horse or thinking about using a CMC is completely pointless. You just need to be patient. My credit report was perfect / maximum 999 i’m two different platforms. Barclays Premier were offering me instant loans via the app at 4.7%, to 50,000. The black horse finance was about 7% from memory but I did end up paying early to avoid interest. That is totally irrelevant to car finance.
