I went Amsterdam about a month ago setting off from my home in South Wales.

28 days later I received a PCN for (unknowingly) driving through Bristol Clean Air Zone.

4 days later I received another one for my return drive home.

Is there any merits for an appeal.

both PCNs arrived exactly 28 days from the camera spotting my car, so I can’t see a way forward but £69x2 plus more if the appeal fails has made me sick. I feel like I’ve been caught in a scam because I was genuinely unaware.

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

    I feel your pain

I don't often drive to Bristol as I hate the drive. However I had to pick my daughter up. The first time I seen the clean air zones I panicked
As I was driving along I checked when stopped. Lucky enough my car was exempt
I'm sorry to say there are quite a lot of the signs on the way and way back
Sadly I don't think you can appeal 😕

In 2015 we drove to Spain and over the Dartford bridge

Signs said "no need to pay now"

what i didnt see till 2 weeks later on the return trip was the second line,,,,"you can pay online or by text"

I got a warning letter advising if i didnt pay the £2 (whatever it was) id then get a £50 fine

Very sporting of them id say

all enforcement should have a leeway, like drivers with a clean licence caught 5mph over a speed limit, caught once should be a gentle reminder

We are after all, English and its just not cricket to shoot first and ask later
Now we all know how it felt to play in the band on the Titanic...

Any driver in England caught 5 mph over a 20 or 30 mph limit would in fact be offered "a gentle reminder", in the shape of the offer of education, provided he had not already done such a course in the previous three years. In a higher limit, he would almost certainly face no sanction at all.

BTW I am not English, but even I know that shooting is not allowed in cricket..

Yet the cricket commentators and spectators will often say 'Great Shot'.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".
