There are photos of old Kleenex Mansize tissue boxes online (the things this forum makes me search for!) and the definitely used to be three-ply, so they've lost a layer at some point in the past. I can't say how recently it was though.
Probably when they downgraded them to unisex!

They are most definitely only 2 ply now, and boy does it show!

Right, next question, has anyone identified LARGE 3 ply tissues we can all rush out and try?

When I was looking for photos of tissue boxes, I did find a few possible alternatives on Amazon. I didn't specifically check the sizes though.

I've had a quick browse now but haven't identified anything large, mostly looking at bamboo and trying (unsuccessfully) to only look at 3 ply. It will have to wait for another day ...

Not only are they thin, they 2 sheets fall apart as soon as you take them out of the box (at the same time they managed to drop them from 50 sheets to 44 in a box).
Asda used to do a far better one but it seems to have disappeared, Sainsburys do one that is as good if not better but for some reason they are all wonky in the box so hard to get out.
Aldi (Saxon) Extra large are about the strongest now but its a very large box so not ideal for all places.

Thank you, Indout. My observations are the same as yours. I will try Aldi next time I visit.

Kleenex is still selling "Mansize" on Amazon, a product that was reportedly withdrawn in 2018 due to being perceived as sexist. However, reviewers are reporting that they receive Extra Large instead of the pictured product. There is widespread agreement that the product is flimsy.

Definitely 2 ply now and poorer quality because of it. They separate when I try to get them out of the box but I persevere because I prefer the larger size.

Kleenex Balsam are fine but only when they're on offer at half price. I then stock up and keep them for when I get a cold

I had a lifetime of using real hankies, as I claimed that tissues irritated my nose and made me sneeze.

That changed, as many things did, during COVID. We buy Blitz kitchen roll anyway, which is often found on offer in discount shops, so I switched to using it.

Quite happy with it. 3 ply, does the job, though I don't have a lot to compare it with.

    1970s schoolboy joke:

"They found a lorry driver's head in a ditch yesterday. Do you know how they knew it was a lorry driver?"

    "No?"

"It had a Yorkie bar in its mouth."

I guess you had to be there to appreciate that.... Despite a patchy memory, it's amazing some of the rubbish I can remember vividly.
