Advice: Taking Eon to court

Yes I may be angry, but this complaint is 2 years old and the old lady that brought it to there attention got no response also and trust me she wasn't angry with the same outcome. This old lady is not in a good way and Eon have continued today with 3 phone calls. So the anger, frustration is not the issue. The ombudsman don't seem bothered either and nor does anyone else. On that basis I feel like her last hope, and she begged me to help before something bad happens to her. I have looked in to a money order for £10,000 at a cost of £455, I know if we lose I could end up paying them £10,000 myself, what will be will be. But looking at the structure of this order, there is some kind of mediation and that might work if not. Then the satisfaction of spreading this case high and wide and losing them customers will be a good feeling to her then me also. I came on this sight thinking it had something to do with Martin Lewis and would make a good story for his show. Never mind, I will file the paperwork tomorrow, this in its self will put a stop to the harassment and give her piece. Thank you all for your comments and time, take care and stay safe.0

Meanmachine1965 said:The shop is closed no electric used in 7 years standing charge £7 per month, meter shows this, NO ONE IS IN THE SHOP NOR HAVE THEY BEEN FOR 7 YEARS. Which is why only £7 per month, and yes of course engineer present when photo was taken. But still asking for meter reading when they should no there is no meter, they took it out. So same question, £6800 for a year, don't think so, its harassment and has been for 4 plus years.
Why does she want this sorting, simple she does not want to take this to her grave.
Again its in my previous posts, I have full authorization and on the notes in front of them on the screen. We are getting no where as no calls and no emails answered, the same as 2 year ago when this complaint was made. Taking them to court as no reflection on the money that Eon actually owe my client and not the other way round, but this will also be proved. Its the damage they have done to this now very sick old lady. No one should have to put up with appalling behaviour and no one should be harassed in this day and age how ever old they are.
And finally my emotions are not getting in the way of things, I just know what is right and what is wrong, and I will not allow this woman to be bullied any more.
It seems massively unlikely that the meter would have been removed - that simply doesn't happen other than when the meter is being changed for a replacement.
I agree with others, some redacted bills plus a couple of photos of the meter might be the best way of us helping you get the best resolution for the lady involved here.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I don’t understand what you mean about a money order for £455. That is the fee for a small claims case, but what are you actually going to be suing them for? You going to court without the relevant evidence, which people here are trying to help you with despite what you seem to think, is not going to help her. In fact if you lose and owe money, you will probably make her feel even worse.
People here are willing to help and there are people who know what they are talking about but you’re simply not giving anyone the chance to do that.
And if the phone calls are from debt collectors, which seems possible, she can write to them and tell them to stop phoning her and to only communicate in writing. Or she could simply block the phone number. There are other mechanisms outside of diving headfirst into a court case. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Hi @Meanmachine1965 I'm guessing that you've found some of the comments in this thread a bit disheartening. I'm absolutely sure that I'm speaking for everyone here when I wish you every success in sorting this out. And the effort you're putting into this is is amazing.
The various comments above are all intended to help even if it doesn't feel that way. The thing is that the law doesn't always work like you think it should and the questions you're being asked are not intended to cast aspersions or put you down, but to help prepare you for what's ahead. I hope you'll respond to some of the questions above and let the folks with legal experience here help you. It would be a tremendous shame to fall at the first hurdle.
If you do want to pursue this, but aren't in a position to or don't have the time to answer all of the questions above, or don't know which to answer first, could I suggest you start again from the beginning and we can then walk you through this step by step in a way that will either sort the issue out directly or if not leave you teed up for a successful legal action. If you'd like to do that just respond by saying "fair enough, where do I start" and someone here will help.
Good luck with whatever you decide3
